    HL patch info

Valve Software has released information on the upcoming HL patch, and yes, it will be required to play online. It fixes the evil demon rcon bug and the proxy cheat, so we can all sleep peacefully this wonderful night, thank you valve!
    New features and fixes include:

    - All map resources can be downloaded from the game server.

    - Counter-Strike proxy cheat fixed.

    - Linux security issue resolved.
It also adds a slew of TFC fixes and brings your Half-Life version to a pretty 1.1.0.4!

Thanks to HL.net for the news.

    HL patch info

Erik Johnson @ Valve has reported to the HLDS mailing list that the fakelag command will indeed be removed because of the numerous cheats exploiting it. Here's the full deal.
We removed fakelag because of the number of exploits that were using this to cheat.

We're completely locked down for the next Half-Life release (no code/content changes). The next release of both Counter-Strike and Half-Life should be happening this week.

We'll post any pre-release server information directly to this list.

If having fakelag removed is going to be a major problem, we can look into addressing this in a server side release after the 1106 update is released.
Big thanks to Frightener @ Halflife.net, and it seems the spam fest has already begun in IRC, come join the fun you crazy party animals.

      HL patch info

I have received some info that the HL 1106 and CS 1.1 patch will both weigh in around 20mb, and here are some bug fixes and features you can find in the upcoming HL patch, how did I get these? Constant spam and annoyance, my friends. Spam and annoyance.
      - New 'stat' command that shows the same information as the 'status' command, but is formatted for the screen and log file.

      - We've added a new variable, hpk_maxsize, that will allow servers and clients to set the maxsize of the "custom.hpk" file. Once that size has been exceded the file is automatically deleted. The cvar is set for size in megabytes. hpk_maxsize 0, is no maxsize. hpk_maxsize 1.5 is a file maxsize of 1.5 megabytes.

      - Rcon say quote problem fixed.
Also, the 4 bugs covering buffer overflow I posted like, 10 minutes ago (update: 3 hours ago, close enough) , have already been fixed in this new patch. So don't get your pajamas in a knot, hear?

Note: I only took three bullets out of the small readme, and that was plenty big. Can't wait to see the big readme, it'll probably lag my AOL though, and who will I talk to them? I'm so lonely!@!#!
