GameSpy.com has slapped up a huge ass HL: CS/BETA 8 preview. This preview has shots of the SEXY new SG-550 Sniper rifle (more info here). Here's a tidbit:

"I'll likely decide that a week or two before it actually happens," says the Gooseman, "I've said it many times in the past and that is, I don't have a roadmap of what the development of CS will be. I just take it one week at a time. I do plan on adding a couple new ones in BETA 8. Right now, I have plans for a new semi-auto sniper rifle (perhaps replacing the current G3/SG1) and a new submachine gun (UMP45)." A new sniper weapon? A new submachine gun? Hmmmm, things are looking better already!

After playing with the jeeps in Counter-Strike, the questions were bound to arise. Can we look forward to more vehicles? What about air support from helicopters? Gooseman sheds some light on the subject, "Right now, I want to improve on the driving code before I start working on implementing any other types of vehicles. The problem with implementing helicopters is that they require large maps to play on and that was always a problem with the Half-Life engine. It's just hard to make a map large enough to warrant placing a helicopter in it."
