    Zaphod interview

Zaphod_Beeblebrox (author of cs_estate and as_tundra) has been interviewed at wpcsh. It includes exciting pieces such as:
Fluke: /me looking for a scoop. Have you got any future projects for counterstrike planned, and are you workin on anything at the moment?

Zaphod: Actually as of the moment I've retired from maping in order to focus more on architecture, which I'm planning to major in next year.
Looks like all the mappers go back into their caves during the school year.

Update: I've deleted my wvu@uswest.net e-mail, please send all mail to vapor@counter-strike.net for your.. needs (or something).

    Zaphod interview

Zaphod Beeblebrox, the maker of as_tundra, cs_estate, and cs_iraq, has been interviewed over at the Boyfriend Total Gaming Network. Tundra, Estate, and Iraq have all but been cut from Counter-Strike (Iraq is gone, but Arctic and Estate are just gone from the map list), but both Iraq and Tundra were featured in various ads and on the box. Anyhow, Zaphod kind of gave up on CS due to his own issues with the gameplay, but it's still a good read:
Have you anything else planned with regards to new ideas for Counter-Strike, any secret scenarios you are working on?

Unfortunately CS has run it's course of interest for me, I've been playing it for close to 2 years and it's lost it appeal. I am however, interested in developing levels for CS2. I can't wait to play around with that engine.

Is there any reason for this lack of interest, time, the state of the CS community etc?

It did have a lot to do with how the CS community had changed. It grew so popular that it was hard to find people that appreciated the level designers as much as people who were familiar with the work it took to develop a mod. A lot of the people that play the game bought it in a store and don't have as much respect for the developers because they think that it was someone's job to build it.
    Check it out.
