Planet GPU has a Half-Life 1.1.0.0 article.. a pretty good read, so um, read it.
When I first heard of the Half Life 1.1.0.0 patch with the new netcode, I was like ok whatever ooohh, I am still going to be an hpb (high ping bastard). 200 ms ping + was considered an hpb and I was getting some good pings, 180-240 with my ISA zoom 2919 modem. I was never really good at cstrike, but excellent at TFC, and a big problem was the advantage of the lpbs (low ping bastards). It was annoying as hell when I was sniping, I push a button and I know I hit them, yet it doesn't register. In cstrike, I am shooting someone right in the chest and I don't see him get hit at all! Well when more news came of the patch and the tests, I anxiously awaited the moment for it to arrive, and it did a few days ago. I had to wait on my 56K modem to download the patch at 1.5 K off cnet, then 3K from zdnet, and so I slept. I then downloaded counterstrike, the agonizing 4 hours of downloading from all the bogged servers going at a nice little 2.5K from 3dgamers. I went to school and came back and installed both the patch and installed TFC, and counter-strike. So I joined a game, and WOW, I am impressed.read, hi LD.
