We don't really need a place for people to post OT shit as much as we need people to not post OT shit.
hey why don't we keep rizzuh's corner up in favor of having an off-topic posting space, because we all know that CSN is really just a glorified forum.
I tend to look at this place as a streamlined forum, which is an important difference in semantics, i think. The topics are (usually) considered news instead of the myriad of repeated crap on the CS forums, for one thing.Comment

Its great for gaming just take off mouse filter right away. thats all.
I'm currently on Windows 98 SE, which seems fine for games.
Apparently a friend is sending me a Windows XP Pro, so i'll give that a try.
Can anyone tell me if XP is any good for gaming?Comment

Less than 2k. Windows 98 is a horrible platform. Windows 2000 10 times better than it. I'd say XP is 2 times better than 2000.
Okay that sounded utterly retarded.
Windows 98: Not stable
Windows 98 SE: Marginally stable
Windows Me: NOT STABLE
Windows 2000: Very stable; slow, memory hog
Windows Xp: Very, very stable; speedy, less memory, prettier
By prettier I mean things like fade-ins and drop shadows, not the default theme.
Overall, while 2000 is a great OS, I think XP is better in almost every single way.

Of course i will, I read everything. I loved XP but I just couldn't get the mouse issue worked out, and it was affecting my performance in CAL. I read on the CAL forums about 500 ways to solve this problem, I finally got my sensitivity down to 6 from 10, which was amazingly higher then what I used on 2k. It still didn't feel right. I'm Back on 2k now with 2.5 sensitivity. One of my clan mates uses XP and 1.8 sensitivity, so I guess it only affects some people...Comment

Yep fully agree, excepyt for some reason (I think its memory, I get crashes particularly if I get a 'could not complete connection' mesg,. Then I have theproblem of waiting ten minutes for the display to sort itself out, Then wait a nother minute or two... Then if Im lucky its ack to windows, otherwise its windows has had to recover from a serious problem, and reboot time, Now My card GeF4 4200 and P4 1.7ghz +20gb of undused Hardrive should handle all o that easily? Do I need more RAM have 256 at the mo.. Otherwise? Is there another prob? Cos I get the imopression that XP aint quite right..

I agree w/ Rizzuh that XP is a tiny bit better than Win2K for most ppl. Oddly enough, windows 2K has better support for my video editing and music composition stuff than winXP... I have seen no better performance by XP either... but it looks nice, yeah. For games, I think XP is better than 2K.
Well I use 2K.Comment
