I don't understand why the one without the public server costs $10 more...it should cost $10 less. Doesn't that mean you'd get two servers, one public one private, for $30?

added: nevermind, I'm an idiot. They mean if you buy a public you get $10 off private.

If rizzuh likes it, SO DO I. Actually I'm more into the free ones myself Somebody should get the full list of server hosts etc and have a comparible sheet running with it. A lot of people that look for servers don't know what the real differences are.

Servers:

Our servers are top-of-line dual processor machines connected to Tier one internet bandwidth in Washington DC area. These machines are at least dual Athlon 2000 mp processors with 1.5 gigs of DDR ram. Connections are provided with 2 load sharing NIC cards providing 100mbit up and down. Choke and Processor lag will never be an issue here.

Ya maybe some wierd thing happened when I COPIED AND PASTED the test IP right off their site.



Oh and it ends in dallas with Netfire so if I entered the wrong IP and it stills ends with Netfire thats one weiiiird quinkydink.

As far as I can tell the server is based in Dallas and routes through Washington via InterNAP (which is a Tier 1 provider), and then (for me) onto the Sprint US-UK link. But they are misleading by giving the impression that they are connected directly onto the Tier 1 network, which they clearly are not but rather are hosted (either co-lo or rented dedicated server) by Netfire.

still wanna know why their site is run off rackshack box. I mean if u got the speed and space to run servers then why not your site as well?



mmmm Netfire is just a rackshack clone, is it just me or can anyone get away with running servers these days?

Netfire is in Dallas. If you did a trace on my IP you'd end up in Atlanta (or where ever AT&T pipes the data through). From the ISP to the target computer is about 2 ms.



I highly doubt they're lying about the location of their servers. They have nothing to gain by saying they're in Washington D.C.
