So going by their math of about a month for 1.6 beta testing and the start date of early in November we should expect CS 1.6 for general release by mid December...

Probably pretty similar to modemers having to play with you.

Anyone remember the early STEAM 1.4 release? The one where the para was actually accurate and everyone whored it? Man that was fun.

PS: I hope STEAM 2.0 is as easy to get selected for as STEAM 1.0 was. If that made sense...

Yeah but it was true for a time, then they updated the BETA 1.5 and it was the same ol' para.

Dont get me started on how we could use a d20 to work out the slut ratio of an awp user, but actually

think about it,mthere must be an element of that to explain the reason why flashbangs dont go off and why some inexplicable twat seem to throw one just before you engage the enemy.. HAving aid that my luck rolls are excellent, i managed to open a vent and decend a ladder while blind once, only to regain vision go back up and get knifed, in the face...ow

Similar indeed. They get to pretend that 3 bullets are supposed to slam into me instantly while mine go through them harmlessly thanks to Valve's attempt to replicate the "realism" of wormholes, and i get to let them know that playing against aimbots would result in more sensible skirmish outcomes. Even steven.

Heh, as much as some high bandwidth people decry the anti-lag netcode, honestly if you were on par skill for skill with a modem user, you'd come up on top every time. If you suck, and don't shoot at them for a while, then their bullets will slam in to where you were, yeah. But, if you both shoot at the same time, your bullets will hit first, and the server will calculate their death before their bullets ever have a chance to get to you.

I've played on both sides of the equation, on a T3 in the college dorms, and on my 56k here at my apartment. I never, never had problems wasting modem users when I was on my broadband connection. Most of the time I wondered why they hadn't shot at me at all. Now that I've done modem play, I understand why. They shot at me as soon as they saw me, but I had killed them before they could see me with their delay.

I seriously can't believe that anyone would whine about playing against modem users... unless it's that they're not enough of a challenge. The BS factor of 5 shots with no hits at point blank goes to their end of the connection, not yours. If your shots are "harmlessly going through them" it's because your aim sucks, not due to the netcode.

I just hate the modem users that skip or the ones that pause for like a second then suddenly run extremely fast to where they were supposed to be. Someone was like, "You shouldn't whine about it. There's nothing he can do about it." How about he doesn't freaking play? I don't mind the modem users that move smoothly.

Thats fine when your trying to shoot each other, but when your simply running past and trying to complete an objective (yes, hard concept for most cs players to grasp) you begin to see the whole retarded effect. Dying because their machine thought it killed you before you got behind that huge wall isnt fun. I die far too often even when Im in the clear and out of a players line of fire, just because they have a ping higher than mine.
