As bizzare as it may sound, some people are believing that the DC sniper (for those of you not caught up on what's happening, check www.cnn.com) is a Counter-Strike (or other FPS) player. A local news station did an interview with a well-known player on how valid this theory might be. The player? Midway, who used to update Domain of Games and now is the general manager of CAL-D team i2. The article actually turns out to be more about the CPL and gaming in general, but it's an interesting read anyway. To check it out, click here.

*sigh* stupid peopleSome professional snipers use video games to help train, leading to some speculation the sniper could be a computer gamer.
Uh oh. I bet some professional snipers drive cars too, so we should be suspicious of anyone driving a car. -

Loo~ narby
It's true that the media is overhyping FPS' and shootings. You can bet someone is gonna attempt to enact legislation on this to curb FPS'. It's what they always blame instead of themselves.
A sad state of affairs it's come to :/Comment

"But even as he puts a silencer on his sniper rifle..."
holy god.... these people didn't even ask him what he was doing.... nor did they take the time to realize the COLT IS NOT A SNIPER RIFLE.
They also referred to CS as a "live sniper role-playing game" - and for that they'll probably be terrorized by the masses of CS players who say CS is not an RPG... cause it's fucking not. Do you see me "leveling up", "upping my mad h4x0r skillz with my fucking exp. points" ?
before ass-cocks start posting reports they should get their facts straight.

Every time I play Counter-Strike I call up a friend. We both join the T team, go to the map as_dcarea, and he jumps into the white van at the spawn point. I ride shotgun and we pull up a little ways to the IC (Innocent Civilians) spawn point, located by a gas station. He parks and I dart off into the trees in which I wait for about six hours before I actually pull out my rifle. I shoot one eventually after hours of waiting and then we speed off. Now that I have done this I feel like I am God and l I want to shoot children or something. Now, if you actually thought I was serious, please feel very stupid right about....now. Some studies have shown that some games make it easier to pull the trigger but what leads up to and follows that is what you have to be do right not to get caught. CS doesn't focus on that aspect at all. Videogames are a quick scapegoat for large media corporations when they aren't bashing Bush or Israel (sorry, had to get that in there),Comment
