    HLamp 1.00 Released

Disk2 of HLirc fame has given us another great tool to play CS with! It's the 1.00 release of HLamp, which allows you to play music with WinAMP while playing Counter-Strike. Mmmm... Beethoven while playing Counter-Strike sounds really good right now. :) Head on over to CSCentral to download this great addon.[break="Disk2's comments about HLamp"]
I have just released version 1.00 of HLamp. It allows Half-Life players to control WinAMP from inside Half-Life via the command menu, or bound keys. Users can play, pause, stop, toggle playlist options, change the volume, load songs and Shoutcast streams, and more (a complete command chart is available in the readme). There is also an in-game announcement feature included in this version that lets users announce which song they are currently listening to.

It works in both WinAMP 2.4+ and 3.0, although WinAMP 3.0 users will need a separate plugin loader to use HLamp (the link to the loader is in the HLamp readme). The plugin loader is very easy to install.

Feedback is welcomed on the HLamp forums. The website is hosted by CS Central and is located at http://www.cscentral.com/disk2/hlamp.

Screenshots of HLamp in action are available at http://www.cscentral.com/disk2/hlamp/screenshots.php

Just as a side note, HLirc was detected by the VAC because of the "HLirc console". Because HLamp does not have anything similar to that (HLamp does NOT modify Half-Life's instructions; HLirc did) I do not anticipate any problems with the VAC (because the VAC essentially only cares if something has modified Half-Life's instructions). I know some people will be wondering about this, so I thought I'd get that out of the way at the beginning.

For the love of all things holy, please remove the announcement option...I'm already annoyed by it and have only seen it in screen shots. Other than that it looks like some nice work.

Yea, I don't care what other people are listening to, and I'm sure they don't care what I'm listening to. If that feature is optional, I'll probably use the program.

The question is: is VAC gonna nail me for this?

No. VAC Shouldn't nail you for this. If it does, post it on the forums or come to #counter-strike and we can find out. But there should be no issues with this.

Does the program automatically tells everyone in the server what song I'm listening to or can I shut that option off? I don't want everyone to know I am listening to Vanilla Ice. :P

I use a joystick plugin for Winamp that lets me use my gamepad buttons and d-pad for all the normal winamp controls, so I'm used to being able to pause and skip songs and whatnot while playing CS.

However, the volume adjusting with the d-pad goes at 1% increments, so I'm quite pleased to have a much faster control over it. Time to bust into this and rebind some keys to do MP3 volume control. Excellent work Disk2! :)

And yes, for the love of all things good and holy, remove the announcement feature, don't even make it optional... ugh.
                            From the HLamp readme....

"If you have a custom command menu you should know how to do this. If you don't know how, kindly refrain from asking me. Ask on the HLamp forums. If you don't know what I'm talking about, ignore this note."

"Q: I am a loser that plays in software mode because my video card sucks. I don't deserve to live. I should just go jump off a cliff right now. Before I jump, can you tell me why won't HLamp work for me?"
                            Oh the comedy! :)

I agree, lest server chat is going to be flooded out with meaningless garble.
