They can't. If they were capable of thought, they wouldn't be producing said mediocre material, and the circumstances would be completely different.



A lot of the mailbags are just lame, so it's no real surprise when they get bashed for being lame, even if it is a "garbage in, garbage out" kinda deal. Plus, with the current format of the site, the mailbag thing seems pretty redundant. The effort put into them doesn't really enter the equation.
