I'dd like to comment one of scanners comments:



"Like the guys are saying, there have been an awful lot of movies coming out lately, so people (I think) want to see something that they haven't seen before."



How many of these "Lame-ass-n00b-wannabe1337-films" have you actually seen. I believe this is something new, and something people never have seen before. If someone have, plz tell me!

...well here I was thinking that when CS-Nation posts links to movies, they'll be worth the download... but I really didn't see anything impressive enough to make it worth my while waiting for 2 80 mb transfers to complete...

guys i am sorry for my "crappy" movie it started out as a test just to see how to do it but my friends wanted me to make one of Jax, FL people my next movies will be better I didn't even want to make a movie but my friends wanted me to so here it is it is my first movie and u people are whining and crying about it you go play DoP or zEx and see if you can do the stuff zioN did and maybe read the readme's for more info on the movies

For those of you who don't want to be bothered by movie news, feel free to disable those news items in your user preferences.



It's a pity we haven't seen more movies that are actually directed. I don't care if the movies have dialogue or are just action-directed, either one is a rarity, and are fun to see. Got some buddies on LAN or something? Get together, put the camera man in spectator mode, and set up some cool scenes involving multiple players. Even if they're completely canned, it'll still look good.



For some nice action-directed videos, check out the CORE (links on the left) series... they're quite cool looking, even if there's not much as far as plot or anything. Fileplanet links to the 3 vids here:

Yeah, fileplanet lines are annoying, but those videos (they get better with each version, so 1 is the least great, and 3 is the best, though 2 is quite good also) are definitely worth the wait. Hell, I have a 56k modem and still got them just fine. :) Medium-large sized files, but again, definitely worth the download.



Onto the movies in the news item...



With the staff of CSN, we currently don't have enough people (or really sufficient community desire) to have a "Movie of the Day" selection with ratings and such. Sometimes news posters will comment on the quality of the videos if they have downloaded them, but often they're just posting links to movies that members have submitted to the site.



I for one definitely agree that there are far too many first-person "here's my cool frags" videos which are typically the first video ever made by their author. A rule of thumb is to never, NEVER release your first effort at something. Try making a video, learn the tricks, and then throw it away and start new with the knowledge you gained. People don't want more of the same, they want something that really stands out. Simply put, I don't have the same emotional attachment to your 3 kills in a row that I do to my own accomplishment of the same.



Anyway, head over to CS-Movies and read the reviews on those 3 core movies I mentioned above if you want... They're highly recommended by me, even if they're not the same type of thing as say the Militia movies were. CS-Movies is a great site in general for getting to read reviews of recently released videos, and they have a pretty big selection.

Your movie sucked, plain and simple. You had no need to release it, but you did. Then, when people criticize it, you get angry? What did you expect to happen? I don't remove my shit from the toilet and take it to an art museum, and then complain when people are disgusted by it.

He didn't actually do anything impressive, and then I consider that it was just a public server which makes it even less skillful. I've played against many ex CAL-i players, and I've scrimmed with IPX. I've accomplished much better than what zion did against top players, and it wasn't a pub, so don't act like zion is anything special because he fragged some CAL-i players a few times.



aF|nero (the creator of the Summer CPL 2002 movie) is making a movie of the different players in my team, Team-IcoN (#team-icon on gamesnet west), maybe when it comes out you'll see that your movie deserved what was said about it, and you have no reason to feel that you are being attacked unfairly.

Wow I watched the Jackson one, and uhhh I seriously made a run like 10 min ago that beat all of them, i was a ct on dust 2 and ran into 4 ts killed all four with one clip and 2 hs. Like seriously Jacksonville must be the city of like CS nubs if that the "Best." I pray to god its not.

Geez, guys. Now I'm going to retract my earlier statements and say:



Thanks for putting forth the effort and making these movies, guys. It's nice to see people having fun with their friends and displaying pride in a sense of community and love of the game. The people complaining about the skill level displayed in the movies (myself included) only wish we could make a movie at all.



Congratulations on getting your efforts noticed, and take the criticism as constructive, and use it to shape your next efforts, not deter you from them.



To sum up: critics are vampires.
