First of all, let's assume that my opinions on comments are more important than mouths'. As a webmaster I have to deal with hundreds of you comment whores who rarely mumble something positive. Let the floodgates open when you have a positive statement and shut your silly mouth when you're Negative Billy, because personally a hell of a lot of people put in a lot of work and people like mouth, who seems to be judging what positive statements are valuable to EjeKt and other people who have worked for the site at various times, have absolutely no idea what anyone who actually puts forth effort prefers.

Here we have organized clans, players and Net Cafes. We dont play "mansion" only nor do we only play Awp only or cheat.

ahemm... i am actually from alain and usually play in the mall in the very same LAN server u described.

But let me shed some light about the subject, i am able to speak for myself as i am one of the best player's in alain in cs (and thats a fact).

now coming back to the subject , the locals (emarati's) u described just began playing the game for less than 2 months (LAN just opened), so give them some credit for not being able to reload, as for the lack of communication between the team players that is true when playing friendly games where our aim is having fun , but when it gets to real clan games you should be there to see really whats happening , oh and by the way if you were in alain for 4 weeks or so you say and play 6 hrs a week , then you should've noticed that the LAN set on the third floor is mainly for NEWBIES (and u were happy u were top of the list!!! ROFL!!!!) and that the one at the bottom is where the pro's and avg players come.

As much as I liked the article, I think the comment on the war was completely out of line. You alluding to the fact that Emirati Counter-Strike players would make bad soldiers and could easily be beaten by Americans was pretty ridiculous (even if it's true). I got a little confused here, but I guess this email provides a good starting point for my response nonetheless.



First, I would like to personally welcome the Emiratis to the discussion. A handful have posted above, and numerous others have contacted me via email. A minority of these postings agree with my analysis of the quality of play in Al Ain, but almost none agree with the notion of extrapolating those results to any general conclusions about the quality of the "soldier", etc. Any conclusions of this sort are further compounded by the problems with my argument that they've identified, particularly two facts: first, the cafe I played at was only a few months old, and second, that many of the people there were playing for the first time.



I didn't realize this. Six weeks is a long time to be away from home, but it's a preposterously short amount of time to learn the topography of another culture. These two facts certainly challenge the veracity of my claims -- claims that were meant to be more of a musing and less of an analysis. All in all, it looks like I stand corrected.



It also seems I'm going to have to drop in at some of the cafes in Dubai next time I'm there. And while I'm certainly going to put up a fight, I'm beginning to think that I'm going to get my ass canned by Dubai's counterstrike elite, lol!



If there's a good side to all this, it would be the variety of views this article has called forth. I've been interested to hear the revisions and counter-arguments presented in the emails and posts here. So maybe I can turn the tables -- I know that Emiratis spend plenty of time abroad, and many I met are more well traveled than me. So let me ask you, then: what differences have you observed in play between UAE, Europe, and the US? I mean, doesn't a person's culture and upbringing have some impact on how they work together, or don't work together?



And for the [small] number of responses that accuse me of outright racism, man, I'm *really* sorry that's how I've been interpreted. I totally dig the UAE, and I made a lot of great friends there. But damn (!) there were a lot of noobs at that cafe in Al-Ain.
