Not true. I use those command lines, mouse acc is off, and sensitivity is the same.... ect.... But it still is different. It's just not screwed up (because of command line fixes), but it still is different then in 98 or 2k. It does feel different. My game got worse from 2k to xp for a while til I got used to it (even with those command lines - I put them in right away).

      Luck isn't fun though...
well, if you don't attribute the luck factor in realism to fun, you should be playing another mod.

In XP you do need to increase your mouse sens even when you have acceleration turned off.

I'm not trying to attribute anything, pal. I'm saying that luck doesn't add to the enjoyment of the game... its just a pain the ass.

Why have to settle for just 1 setting of sensitivity?

I have my "c" key bound to temporarily lower my sensitivity while I hold it down. That way, I can still play CS without my arm getting sore from moving it 5 feet to make a full turn. When I let it go, my sensitivity returns to a nice setting that I find very effective for close and medium range combat.

              alias "+fineaim" "sensitivity 3.5"

              alias "-fineaim" "sensitivity 9"

              bind "c" "+fineaim"

Seeing that new CS script submission post, maybe I should start pimping this or something.

Anyway, basically I'd agree with the principle that it's necessary to be able to have a sufficiently low sensitivity to aim precisely at long distance. As far as the close-combat fighting goes, though, a higher (though not overly high) sensitivity does give you faster reaction speeds, as you can twitch your wrist a lot faster than you can move your whole arm.

Another thought, which I'm sure will be addressed in further parts of this article, is that one man's sensitivity of 12 is another man's 40, due to mouse differences. Therefore, even as the author speaks of sensitivities below 3, those could well be what you're used to seeing as 4-6, or so, depending on your mouse.

If you get bored, try the multiple sensitivity option. I find it helps me quite a bit, without making me have to completely relearn how to move correctly to aim in CS.

The people who say "not true" should do some testing themselfs, that will show them that it is true and there is *no* difference.. If there is you haven't tweaked XP correctly..

                My tests don't lie..

omg, nighthawk... if you bind 'c' how do you constantly spam your teammates with "i'm in position" and "reporting in"?!?

It doesn't matter how accurately you can shoot when some bastard can shoot you through a wall and knows when and where you are coming from these OpenGL hacks are the real issue.....
