I would guess that he meant assault rifles and not sniper rifles. However, wait a month and find out for yourself.

ShoNuff writes like he just graduated from "How to Write Like A Conspiracy Nut Who Has No Command of the English Language" University. Anyway, I'm sure they will change the shield around a bit and when they do everyone will bitch that it is now too weak. Sigh.

            Fully stop rifle fire? Sweet.
Ditto. I think that they decided that it would be worthless after at least the 3rd round after Ts start buying AKs. He said rifles, but does he also mean the AWM? If that's true the CTs could compete against good Ts in cs_italy.

Off the subject, but wouldn't it be gravy if they added a secondary fire to some guns so you could pistol whip people rather than havening to pull out your knife? Maybe they should add a bayonet to the AK as it's secondary. You could just stab someone when they are 3' away instead of spray & pray.

Fully stop rifle fire.. Hmm. To me, that's just retarded. So, VALVe is making it so we can't shoot through a thin piece of metal meant for riots, but we can shoot through concrete walls?

I think VALVe needs to put realism into consideration again. I didn't feel like reading the whole four pages of comments so this may have been said, but it doesn't seem very logical if the FN Five-SeveN that is packaged with the shield can't be replaced by another pistol.

I'm hoping they'll tone down the riot shield during the beta testing, but if they don't, I'd like to see CAL and other leagues ban the use of it. It does promote more teamwork, but it just doesn't make sense to be stopping rifle bullets with a shield meant for stopping rocks and other hand-thrown projectiles.

Off the topic, it'd be nice to have the feature of just buying a kevlar helmet, instead of buying the whole vest and helmet.

The best way i think valve could make the shield a bit more fair, is to make it so that you can shoot through the glass window. Since it would be a head shot, they would probably go down in 2 shots at the most with any rifle. It wouldent be too hard to do since the shield slows you down (im takeing a guess here, but probably as much as an awp). If this happened, the shield would make a good sniper killer, since this would be one of the only times someone skilled in the use of assault rifles would have a easyer time killing someone, then a skilled sniper.

Well i just hope valve dosent end up fucking up the shield like they fucked up almost every gun in cs.

A Level IIIA Shield will not protect against 7.62mm or 5.56mm rifle ammo, however it would cover the standard and high powered pistol and SMG rounds. The shield would need to be Level III protection to defend against rifle ammo, and Level IV to defend against armor piercing rifle ammo. Check the link above for info on each level of ballistic protection...

                    umh.

I`m guessing the develop team didn`t want the shield to become

                    another "VIP-thing".

You know, `cause most players are packing

assault rifles anyway, allowing rifle shots to penetrate the shield

would just make the bearer (of the shield, naturally) look like

an idiot, unable to really retaliate (without exposing himself),

and promtly getting killed just sitting behind his

                    great cardboard protector,

hence nobody would be willing to use it.

On the other hand, completely stoppin rifle rounds sounds a bit

harsh, not to mention unrealistic, and conflictin:

If the riot shield completely stops ALL guns (something which 8 ft of concrete can't do in CS)...
And that in mind, I AGREE they should be fixing things

(like the one mentioned above, and for example

                    grenade blasts completely ignoring obstacles),

before adding new.. things. or sumtin.. [tired]

ps: I don`t think anyone`s gonna read this,

but anyways sorry for possible typos and/or bad grammar. :|

last time i checked, the five seven had LOW power not DEagle power. I think you're thinking of the bullet holes that appear. The bullet does not go through a wall, but the bullet hole might appear.

If u look at cs nation's weapon info, it says "deadly accurate, but no power to back it up" hmmmm since it has no power it goes through walls?
The 5-7 actually does fire an armor piercing round, it's just that the round isn't all that powerfull to begin with. Basically, against an unarmored opponent, the 5-7 does the same damage as a glock. Against an armored opponent, the 5-7 does damage about the same as an USP (it depends on whether the USP is silenced or not. I think its a little less than an unsilenced and more than a silenced, but that might be backwards). You can test this out if you want, just set up a lan game with two people and do test shots from point blank. You should do multiple tests and take the average, since there is a random element in how much damage a particular weapon does.

What I want to know is when you buy a riot shield, does the 5-7 take up your secondary weapon slot? I.e., can you buy a riot shield and a deagle and switch between them, or are you stuck holding the riot shield all the time?
