I think that Die Another Day was (is) one of the best bond movies.. at least the best one within the last 5-10 years. I think Pierce Brosnan is the best since Sean Connery. Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore were too ugly, or something, they never seemed quite right.

i was listening to another tv show on discovery and they were following the crew of a us nuclear submarine..

at one point they were talking about armament, and they were showing off the fact that they had like 48 (or something) trident(or something) missiles, witch each contained a classified number of nuclear devices (on 1 single missile) and that apparently those missiles individually had more firepower then all that was used during ww2.

they said there was about 20 of those subs constantly patrolling the worlds waters ready to launch at multiple targets.

And then were supposed to be afraid of Saddam Hussein who supposedly has 2 or 3 gallons of anthrax and meager quantities or u238 or something else

        go figure.

          Yeah Eagle25.

The way I see it is.. we're the only people that have ever used a nuke in the entire history of everything. While things were a lot different then, I don't think we should be poking our noses in Sadaam's business because as far as I'm concerned he's been leading Iraq a lot better than he could be.

The general rule of thumb with rizzuh is, if you haven't provoked him and he's being rude to you, it's meant as a joke. If you've gone ahead and made an assclown of yourself first, though, then he's just making fun of you, and it's not quite so nice of a joke. Seeing as you didn't really do much to deserve a flaming, I wouldn't take anything directed your way seriously. So... stick with that, and you'll come out fine.

Yep, we do need a homogenising force to fear, for parodies of our planet, please look at Asimovs Foundation books for how it should be, Iain M Banks Culture series to see how it may be, adn L Ron Hubbard Battle field Earth Series for how screwed it really is.

By homogenising force I mean a unifying threat. The biggest problem is because of the cultural differences between the Western Ideals and Islam, the West is using Islam as that threat, Systematically destroying the name of Muslims across the world. Sure certain asshole terrorisat 'muslims' contribute a hell of a lot towards it but sovereign nations politics are not the business of USA.

The UN is toothless and is rapidly heding the League of Nations way.

At least if there were aliens attacking the world might pull its finger out of its ass and do some positive or good.

Whilst Kyoto might not have suited you, why the f would you sign up to it???? This planet is more important than your , my or any other perwsons economy. No politician has the balls to act on this premise, because mercantilism has gone mad and we will never be able to conduct politics on true 'ideals'. Im not going to even drop into the screwed up lack of democracy and the rise of single issue politics, suffice to say that it sucks and is almost as bad as Central European Proportional Representation with its centre centre politics and hung parliaments full of coalitions.

Perhaps what we need is a little bit of dictatorship an outside threat or a global disaster,o wait, thatll happen in the next twenty years anyway, my bad!

Hell whos with me, lets go kick some ass I dont care whos. Then wehen we get in power we use technology to implement true democracy one person one vote on all issues just like the athenians, except we enfranchise everyone. Once everyone has broadband wristwatches with an ability to be in contact with big brother all the time, we need not fear the decisions of leaders cos we all could be a leader-- Wow, 8.33 and im feeling pretty clear. Well thats my £3.50 worth, cao all,.

I guess next it's a Zionist conspiracy. No one has a problem with Muslims in general, they just have a problem with Muslim terrorists. To me it seems that Muslims have a problem with Muslims, since they have been repeatedly taking away their own freedom for the past hundred years.

Believe me, if the US and the UN did not respect "sovereign nations politics" millions upon millions of Muslims might actually live in a democracy (probably to follow the same road as Kuwait, but at least it's self determination).

The USA has had weapons of mass destruction (nukes) for quite a while now, and is the only country to have used them. When we did so, it was to end a war, which ultimately saved a lot of lives. Sure, it's horrible to think of 100,000+ people dying in a single blast. War is pretty terrible, but when you compare that to some of the conventional bombings that went on in that war, it pales by comparison. If I recall correctly, something along the lines of 3-4 times as many people died in one night of bombing Dresden than died in either nuclear blast, and several other cities took similar hits.

The point is, world wars are bloody things, and ending one was a far more "responsible" use of these weapons than letting terrorists decide to randomly blow up a city out of hatred.

Again, it's not so much about how much you have as how you'll use it. With US nuclear submarines, it's simply a deterrant force, preventing any other nation from launching a nuclear strike without fear of retaliation. It's kind of like holding a grenade in your hand with the pin removed as you give someone a hug. Sure, it's somewhat less than friendly, but they sure as hell aren't going to try to stab you in the back for fear that you'll let go of that release handle. Not the best analogy, but you get the idea.

Name a single Iraqi leader who's been worse. Oh wait, that's right, you probably couldn't name any other Iraqi leader. And you probably have no clue about Iraqi history in general. Iraq, upon gaining independance from Britain in 1961, tried to annex Kuwait, and had problems with Kurds rebelling. Kind of like they were about to do in 1938, before the king died. Sound familiar? Lots of leadership changes since, one coup after another, assassination attempts, and the like.

Iraqi politics have never been good. The thing that made Saddam different than the other leaders was simply that he's been more willing to act brutally in any circumstance than those before him. Upon becoming president in '79, he had all political rivals killed. Then, in '80, he went to war with Iran, keeping the focus of the country off of politics, and focused on a common enemy. That lasted 8 years, during which he had so strongly taken control of the country that no one was left who was in any position to challenge him. Since then, all uprisings, all revolts, all protests have been brutally and completely put down, without regard to how many of his own civilians he has to kill.

Yeah, he's effective at staying in power. But here in America, we believe that government is "By the people, for the people." In Iraq, the government is "By Saddam, for Saddam." And if you wonder why any of his people still publicly praise him, it's simply because if they don't, they're likely to end up in prison or dead.
I think Bush is a flatout jackass.
And I think you're ignorant, but opinions don't matter much. Plenty of people agree with you, and plenty don't. Any president we've had who actually has any sense of personal integrety usually isn't very popular with quite a few people. I don't agree with every single policy Bush has made, but I certainly respect him, quite a lot more than the guy he replaced. I can certainly say he's got a lot harder job than any of us here, and it's a lot easier to criticize when you're not the guy who gets held accountable.

Unfortunately, alliences against something only tend to last as long as the threat exists. How fast did Russia and the US go from fighting together against the evils of Nazi Germany to the hostilities of the Cold War? For those of you who don't know your history, it was basically immediately. And a lot of the time, the hostilities that emerge after uniting against a common foe are even greater than they were before the conflict.

A common foe makes it easy to unite, for the moment, but things put together quickly are often of poor quality, and don't stand the test of time. It certainly is a lot harder to try to make everyone get along without the urgency of a threat of elimination, but it's a lot more lasting if you can make it work.
