Medion Interview

Medion, who recently joined the CPL-winning clan SK.swe, has been interviewed over at Gamers.nu (free registration required, but worth it). The interview isn't by Thorin, but it's still good. Here's some proof for you nay-sayers:

What do you think of the evolution of the community?



SK|Medion: I'm hoping it will be a bit more mature than it is now. I see more flames then congratulations on most gaming sites when xxx clan wins/loses etc. But since it's just getting bigger and bigger and more clans are introducing contracts I'm HOPING it will be more professional than it is today.

Medion... been a while, definitely a top name in the CS scene, assuming he's kept on top of his game. We've seen news of him added to the SK roster a while back, but it's still cool. I for one can't wait to see how this plays out at the CPL.

if they won't win then another European clan will :) I'd go for EoLithic or GameOnline

Well first off, the modelling is pretty good. The problem is, we've all seen 'pretty good' many times before. It's nothing new, nothing amazingly special... it's just good modelling. There is a slight gap in between the slide and main body but you'll only notice it in JHLMV, not in-game. The gun itself feels too small and thin, but that's not hard to change (select all > scale > 1.75 > scale, and you're done). Otherwise, the modelling is fine. I personally like to see the ejection port (i.e. I don't like 'correctly mirrored' models), but that's just a personal preferance of mine and can be easily changed anyway.



The skin is a different matter. I had to give this a real good going over in Photoshop. I strongly suggest grayscaling the main gun and making it a tad darker. Oh yeah, and get rid of that stupid white (sorry but that isn't silver) hammer, make that black too. Then you're sorted. Overall the skin is fine, it's just got a stupid hammer, is a tad too light and has an odd blue tint to it.



The animations are alright. I personally had to really look and stare to notice the clipping when in-game. You only really notice it properly in JHLMV if you slow the animations down. It's very quick and dark gun + dark gloves = hard to notice what's going on to be honest. Otherwise, the animations are fine. A bit boring, but fine.



The only other error I could find was that the muzzle flash comes out only 2/3 of the way up the barrel, but you barely notice it in-game.



Overall a solid replacement that could have been really great if only the skin had been done nicer in the first place and if it had been a bit bigger. Definatly worth a go.
