50-year-old Fragger

CSCentral, a good site to bookmark now that we're a horrible mess of 404 errors and database downtime, has posted a new article by Simon entitled Half a Century Old Fragger. It's about a CS player who is half a century old. I think that's like 10 years or something, who knows. Here's a completely out of context quote:

You know I really don't see the point in noting age. Unless your like have the CS populatioin in the under 10 bracket. Then you begin to wonder how well the rating system actually works and why our tax dollars are paying for a little insignificant letter in the corner of a box. In my opinon it's taking up the much needed space that gaming companies need to complete the cover art...



But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

As cruel fate would have it I, too, am 50 frickin' years old but then gaming has been part of my professional life for the past 17 of them. Although I've been playing CS for almost 2 years I still get called a n00b because with eyesight like mine has become I might literally have been born yesterday. Any of you remember the Simpsons episode where Lisa and Bart are competing to be the best anchor for the school news program?



Somehow this reminds me of the "Human Interest" stories which that episode comments on. But you know, it's true, we lap this kind of stuff right up, and come back for more. I dunno, maybe I'm going soft in my old age.

It seems to me that the young people of cs are getting their way far too much.

I mean, there must be a large proportion of mid twenty adn over, evey other clan I meet in England seems to be 30 something. And theres this geezer who is 57, I think he plays in HLC or FAT. See you know all these demos and stuff, they are full of like, Hard ass Cheesey Techno, or Hard SkateRock type teen angst type shite music. Its like there are two divisions, the depressed I hae evryon teen agers, and the not depressed, wanna rave all night teeenagers.. Is that it? MY god I feel so old.... But there was much more variety, adn i\ve sampled both sides of that musical coin. And have grown to like, allsorts, (House forever!!) But some people are sooo narrow minded, uch. We need to corner the grey market of CS. I say all demos to have like, MusicHall tunes, or Frank Sinatra, Rat Pack type ytunes .(Thats the MArtin, DavisJnr, ratpack, not he HArdcore RAver Ratpack);>

TRhat would be intersting, adn a much better challenge to the makers, to create excitement, through slower music, just a thought. Rock the Aged!
