    Counter-Life B4.3

A new version of Counter-Life has been released (BETA 4.3). Counter-Life uses Counter-Strike guns and gameplay in the Half-Life single player game, so you must have the CS mod and HL retail installed to play it. Below is a changelist, but you can skip all that nonsense and grab it here.[break="changelog"]
      gameplay:

    • longjump module fixed (about time! thanks valve!).

    • revert bullet spread back to normal.

    • maximum cash allowed is up to player.

    • hazard sprites fixed.

    • buy menus redoned.

    • hard coded enemies' health.

    • enemies' armor more effective.

    • kevlar vest now costs $650 no matter how much armor you've got.

    • roaches now squashable. squish!

    • new commands can be configure manually by accessing multiplayer->customize->advanced options.

      weapons:

    • added ingram mac10.

    • added knife secondary attack.

    • m249 556mm rounds different from the rest.

    • m249 now hold 200 max carry ammo.

    • new secondary function for fn p90.

    • flashbangs can't be bought. useless stuff. but you still can get them by cheating: give weapon_flashbang

    • each bullet type has its own price.

    • grenade switching won't cause you to throw the grenade when you switch back(forgot to mention

      this for beta 4).

    • fixed every single weapon's reloading time.

    • added 'realistic clicking'.

    • fixed every single weapon's deploy timing.

    • fixed weapons' animations.

      new commands:

cl_buytime = allows you to set your buy menu timing in seconds. default is 3.

cl_maxmoney = allows you to set the maximum amount of money you want. default is 16000.

cl_startmoney = allows you to set the starting amount of money. default is 800.
    Link again.

I played it, makes HL sp non boring for about 5 minutes. Not to discredit HL SP, i played it start to finish + expacs when they came out, but there isn't much replay value there.

I actually rather much enjoyed Counter Life when I went through it in Beta 1. A certain part of me is curious how much improved it is, but yeah, HL SP just doesn't have tons and tons of replay value. I played other SP mods of HL (They Hunger, USS Darkstar, Azure Sheep, etc), but again, once you've been through it... there's not a lot new. I definitely like having accurate weapons in CL, though, as the standard 9mm SMG that is your main gun through HL is so annoyingly inaccurate, even on the first shot.

So, to make it quick, if you haven't played Counter-Life, try it out, it's actually pretty fun. I just don't see a whole lot dragging me back to it, now that I've been there and done that.

I've played HL single player through 4 times, so for me there is a replay value. Always something new to discover while waiting for TF2 to come out. :)
