New Server Beta
A new HLDS beta was released by VALVe this afternoon. The age-old "flashbang doesn't work" bug is now fixed, after years of being buggy. Cool. Here's the release announcement from Eric Smith:We have a beta version of the Counter-Strike Server that's ready to be released.
NOTE: Just in case it wasn't brutally obvious: If you don't run a server you don't need this.
* Fixed a bug in Counter-Strike where the flashbang grenade would not always flash all of the players.
This release includes all of the changes from the previous beta releases. The details for each release are outlined in the included .txt file.[break="Click here for the rest of the announcement"]You can download the beta server here:

All you need to do is download the appropriate file(s) and replace your old one(s). It's always a good idea to back-up your old versions first. Clients using 1.1.1.0/1.0.0.5 should not have any problems connecting to your servers.

Thanks.

New Server Beta
VALVe has released a new server beta today. One of the new things in this beta is a temporary new variable for admins, clockwindow. This variable is being tested in an attempt to stop speed cheats. Admins are asked to test settings and report their results.[break="Click here for the message from VALVe's Eric Smith"]We have a beta version of the Half-Life Server we'd like to begin testing. This beta version addresses the following issues:
* Fixed the problem where the Linux server would not update new security modules correctly, forcing a restart of the server in order for clients to be able to connect again.
* Fixed the problem with running multiple servers on the same machine and having them communicate properly with the Ban Master server. Servers now communicate with the Ban Master server on the server's game port (default is 27015).
* Added new cvar "clockwindow". This cvar is temporary. It's designed to combat the speed cheats being used in-game. The default value for this cvar is "0.5". We're very interested in how low you can get this value and not have your players "feel" any different while they're playing. Broadband clients shouldn't be affected by this cvar. Adjusting "clockwindow" should have a greater affect on modem clients. As you lower the value (0.3, 0.1, 0.01, etc.), modem clients' games should feel jittery. Adjusting "clockwindow" does not affect the server. Only clients will notice problems when the value starts to get too low. Please play with this cvar and report your results directly to me (mailto:erics@valvesoftware.com).

Yes, good thing it's fixed. Now I and many others will know with certainty that we're just too stupid to blind anyone (except our mates or ourselves) with the fb's we throw. Basically the same thing with he's. Damn truth.

very important
and that's cool, I don't know how many times someone threw a flashbang in front of me, and it didn't blind me, and thinking to myself "I should be blind now" but of course I'm not, so I just happily sit and wait and the other guy comes flying around the corner expecting me to be blind and then I happily shoot him in the head. And he dies. It's a great thing, but it's fixed now so no more of that.Comment
