    3D CPL Woes

Once again, money has become an issue for another major clan. This time around, 3D may not be able to attend the CPL, due to funding issues. One of their sponsors, who was going to support 3D's trip to the CPL has fallen through, leaving 3D in doubt of whether or not they will be able to attend the winter CPL, which is only five days away. They are asking for any support that the community can offer.[break="3d cpl woes"]
Once again we turn to the gaming community and our loyal fans to help us pay for this event. Our CPL lineup is Ksharp, Rambo, steel, kane, Bullseye, and moto. If you are an individual looking to help out, any donations would be much appreciated and can be made to the PayPal account of craig@ethersites.net. If you are a business looking to gain massive amounts of exposure at one of the largest gatherings of gamers in the United States, please e-mail me at torbull@team3d.net so I can introduce our marketing strategy.
For more information, click this piece of grey text. Thanks to Grandpa for the information.

Update: Steelpad, a small company located in Denmark, has decided to help 3D with their travel costs to the CPL. Click this here link, sonny, for more information. For whoever donated over $25, 3D is sending them free steelpads.

If this keeps happening, there won't be a CPL for us to watch

Yeah, this is definitely a discouraging post. When a team like 3D loses its sponsors you know something is wrong with competitive gaming. Personally I don't see how the CPL and CPL teams get the kind of sponsorship they do.

Wow, I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be a lack luster cpl year because many of the more popular (but not necessarily better) teams are not showing up because of money problems.

Only guess is that WGC will over to have them over.

There is no benefit to sponsoring clans. If there is it's very small.

3 Clans down, my mastermind plan is all coming together.

soon there will be no stopping me and my Dance Dance Revolution will overtake Counter-strike once and for all!!!!

Anyhow before you kill me... Its a shame to see zEx, Rival, AND 3d to most likely be absent from CPL.

In a way I feel this is a good thing because, the less popular clans have a chance to shine and become the new CPL regulars.

WTF?! Hasn't ksharp won 100's of 1000's of dollars in prize money in the past? If they're going to play for a cash prize why don't they buy their own damned plane tickets. I'm giving my money to the food bank.

                  ^^ i second that

sucks for them, but if they can't get around 3 grand (im assuming they want the same amount the others do) from their sponsors, i dont know what's happening to this so-called ever expanding pro gaming movement. i mean, in the business world 3 grand isn't really a terrible expense, and a REAL sponsor would certainly never back out. an example is motocross and NASCAR, as pointless as those events are, (much like CS is relatively pointless) the competitors sponsors just don't back out less than a week from the biggest event.

It's clear the pro gaming community has a loooooooooooong way to go. gl though

Isn't this more or less in the realm of pan-handling at this point? Really, a group of suburban CS dorks -who are nowhere near the point of starvation- asking for handouts? What the hell? If i were to give donations, i could either buy a needy kid a present for the holidays, give a guy a warm meal during winter, or i could help fund a trip for a group of snot-nosed LAN snobs. Hmmmmm. I'll have to think about that one. At least the first 2 have an excuse for not being able to produce anything in return. But thanks for asking.

Jesus christ. I may be a bastard, but stuff like this is just out and out crass. It doesn't matter if you get the donations or not. You should know better than to ask for them in the first place.

And on a semi-related note, i seem to remember some people droning on and on about how easy it was to attend these shindigs back when Fontana joined X3 and was being a cunt about online tournaments. Those people can now drink a dick. It's on the house, which apparently makes it affordable enough for 3D to buy them the first round.

They probably don't even need money to go. They just want to get some extra spending money and then they'll say their loyal fans allowed them to attend. =/
