    CS:CZ Details

GameSpot has posted more details on Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, which has obviously found new form after switching developers.
Ritual says Condition Zero is all about gameplay. So that it's not always just run and gun, there are a few different types of scenarios, some pure action, some stealth, and some focused on information-gathering objectives. There are scenarios that take inspiration from Counter-Strike's multiplayer modes, such as one VIP escort mission where a politician you're escorting insists on going on a handshaking tour through the slums, only to be attacked. However, one of Counter-Strike's signature elements--the money-based loadout selection that takes place between matches--isn't in the game. You start out each scenario with a set of weapons appropriate to your counter-terrorist unit's mission.
The article is very informative, so if you feel like teasing yourself be sure to read it.

If the screenshots are any indication (this one), it looks like Ritual will be re-doing all the weapon models in Counter-Strike. It looks like CS: Condition Zero will completely phase out Gooseman's model work.

In other news, ShackNews will soon post its own preview. Last night they posted the first movie containing Ritual's work.

I know lots of people are going to flame them for changing the models, but I say kudos (who says kucos? I mean really?) to them for taking their game and making it their game.

Upon further review, the first half of the screenshots show 3rd person models with square (??) gun barrels. If they do that, I'll join the masses in wanting Rituals head. However, the second half of the screenshots show nice models. If only the game engine were better... oh well. They still won't get my money until I read some full reviews of finished products.

The square barreled guns are the old HL gun models, I'm sure they were just using those 'till they finished they're own models.

        Hmmm 10 new weapons.

It's true, the second half of the screenshots do look better. That M4 sure is shiny. I'm holding out hope that it will be good.

Its just the normal HL model, I'm pretty sure they won't put it in the finnished game.

umm...when they said that CZ was now a single player game to the core, does that mean that CZ will not have any multiplayer aspect to it at all? I was kind of interested in playing the single player campaign online with my friends on my team against the computer. Is that no longer part of the game?

Am I the only one who doesn't like those models? They just don't look good, the artic guys face for instance looks crap. I was hoping the SEALs, Spetsnatz etc. would all be wearing accurate uniforms but it seems they've gone for a "looks a bit like if you've never seen 'em" stylee. Maybe it's because of copyright issues or something I don't know.

The Gearbox ones look far superior to the new Ritual ones.

Blah look on "Player Models" under Cond. Zero right here on CSN. I personnaly think the Gearbox models looks absolutely great, the faces are marvellous.

We can't expect a miracle here from the HL engine. I think having a nice variety of models is important, and as long as they don't look vomit-inducing, most people will be happy (as will I).

Your link is a 404, Dangki.

Gearbox's looked far better and they were many more with an almost limitless combination.

Ohwell I guess I should just shut up, its not as if they're going to change back.

Give them a chance, atleast now there using painted faces, I didn't like gearbox's photosourced ones. From what i've seen in these recent screens, the models/skins are constantly being changed. I've noticed that they have switched out the arab and seal faces for a less cartoony look already. Give them time, ritual has some real talented artists.
