3D has defeated GoL in the CPL CS $100,000 Tournament with the close score of 13-10. Demo on FileShack and FilePlanet (click here for round by round coverage).
3D (lineup: rambo, ksharp, bullseye, moto, kane) and GoL (lineup: myssE, ElemenT, VicoN, Hyb, Souledge) exchanged blows while GoL, AK pros by Scandinavian tradition, were on the Terrorist team. 3D had a respectable loss of 5-7 on a map that largely favors Terrorists (click here for round by round coverage).
When 3D went T, they did the usual American "won't try for the first few rounds to get money" thing and then absolutely dominated. Their third round as T (15 overall) showed what would win this CPL: brains. Four 3D members rushed long A, as Rambo (Kim) slipped by on catwalk and hid behind the two stacked crates with an MP5 (one GoL found him but was killed quickly). As 3D rushed to A, Rambo came out and had the backs of GoL for target practice.
Round 6 as T's (18 overall) also displayed strategy. Two 3D members went long A and successfully distracted the entire GoL defense. Three 3D members went into B without a shot being fired. The bomb was planted, GoL didn't know where to go, and 3D took them all out without a single loss. The match was then tied at 9 to 9.
From there it was 3D's game with the exception of one close loss (round 21). The last round (23) was your average B rush. Unusually quick and noisy, 3D knew that GoL kept their players apart (due to the nature of the map). Knowing the rift, 3D exploited it once again and had an easy victory. 13-10: 3D wins.
3D has now proven itself as the best team in the world. After some troubling first steps, the baby has learned to sprint.
Tracking 3D's Progress
That's CS-Nation's CPL coverage for this event. Thanks to Sublyme and SinaC for pitching in early. I hope I covered the last few matches well, because that's where it really gets exciting and if you weren't rooting for one team or another I probably screwed up somewhere! Hopefully we'll have a nice wrap-up article and some interviews.
