You've already announced that the next CS mod update will contain elements from Condition Zero - the riot shield and FAMAS and Galil guns. Will you continue to update the mod with these small increments to bring it inline with Condition Zero, or will we get one large expansion when CZ hits stores?
Atkins: Yes. Currently the plan is to release small parts of the content created by Ritual Entertainment to the multiplayer community over time.

The singleplayer probably won't be that bad; but it won't live up to the hype :o

I'm worried more about what these @ssholes will do to multiplayer.

puzzles: commandos style thinking. I guess. Or maybe it's those things where you need your teammates at a specific place doing a specific action to unlock the treasure.

me, as long as you give me the famas I'm happy I'll also love to use the shield against podbots and get a headshot from across the map with an ump the instant I put down the shield.

What is it about the mod that makes it so appealing, in your opinion, and why will Condition Zero find the same level of popularity?

Atkins: Counter Strike still reigns supreme above all other real-world multiplayer games. It has been the best for years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The only thing it has lacked is a similar experience in a single player setting. It's our intention to bring that to the community next year with Condition Zero.

What the hell kind of response is this? Apparently Atkins has no idea what CS is all about, since he doesn't have a clue as to why it's so popular. It's blatantly obvious he totally avoided the question because the answer wasn't on the sheet of paper given to him by company big wigs.
he answered it this way because as said before, its a PR response. Also, it's extremely hard to say why counter-strike is so popular. THere have been entire articles on it and still have multiple conclusions or not sure. If you could say exactly what makes CS so popular every gaming company would have a 100,000 player hit on their hands!

The problem is that if they keep the CS core the same, that means they also keep everything that is wrong with it. CS isn't coming out of this slump if nothing is done to fix what is already broken.
Yes, yes, and yes. That is exactly the problem. Of course then they'd be actually paying attention to the community, and we couldnt have that now could we.

For the people that where talking like 15 posts ago about the HL Grunt AI, it doesnt just mean you'll be killing some Grunt AI, ull be fighting with it and it will HOPEFULLY obey your commands like PODBots do like when you say "Go Go Go!" or "Stick Togather Team"...

I'd say that Ritual is definitely controlling the center of this development project.

Or perhaps you'll just be puzzled why your teammates all run off to their death, and then you get shot in the back of the head while looking around a corner with your brand spankin' new fibre-optic camera.

Anyone who tries to develop a single-player version of CS must obviously be an asshole (yes, you can even spell it out without using an @ you twit), even though Ritual isn't fully in control of what will enter multiplayer.

Mine start to run from spawn, then one calls out "follow me" and the rest stop the rush, run back to his position, and bunch up worthlessly at spawn. Then I call "need backup" and I hear a lot of "negative" responses, with perhaps 1 coming to my aid, only to be shot down because podbots don't seem to be able to figure out that they should reload before their clip runs out.

The bots designed in-house for some of the higher-quality deathmatch games (Quake III, UT series) seem to be pretty decent, but unfortunately this is definitely the exception to the rule, and I have yet to see a bot for any Half-Life mod that could in any way be viewed as intelligent or natural.

You forgot to mention the fact that they hired Count Floyd, flew him to Texas, and payed him to improve pod bot to bring it up to their standards for the game. But no bot for any game is really all that impressive, especially the HL grunt AI.

Ya know multiplayer CS will look just like single player CZ when CZ and CS 1.7 are released...

Speaking of Count Floyd, I haven't seen anything mentioned about him since Gearbox was out of the picture...is he still working on the AI?

Well seen as though Ritual have moved onto modified Grunt AI and scarpped the previous work I guess so.
