    de_airstrip

Well it's been a few weeks since my last post but here's something new. I've been working on a new map that will be included in CS 1.6 called de_airstrip.

Airstrip is a medium sized map set in the south American jungle in the perimeter of a small airstrip being used as a base for insertion of troops to keep the area free of drugs. The level is set more around the various buildings of the airstrip than the runway itself.

A massive thanks goes out to Iikka ``fingers'' Keranen of VALVe for the kick ass textures, John ``Pickitup'' Morello of the DoD team for the sweet tree and foliage models, Eric Smith and Erik Johnson of VALVe, John ``rizzuh'' Jensen and Jeff ``puffycloud'' Pietsch thanks guys :)

Be sure to check out the CSN feature!

    Here are the screenshots.

nice except the backdrop kind reminds me of early firearms maps... it you can find the textures for it try using a few layers of palm tree textures and then the one you currently are using behind them. o ja what the bloody hell is masked skin technology!

it's just a fancy name for making trees look good with models.

                      So what's the difference between a MP5SD/N and a MP5SD5?

[Edit by bullet_Head](I usually don't edit to answer questions but an MP5N has the trigger grouping of safety, single shot, and full auto. And the MP5SD5/6 Mp5a4/5 have safety, single shot, burst, and full auto. I think I got that right. But to explain in a shorter sentence, the recievers are different.)

Anyway, very nice model here. I don't like this form of buttstock since nobody ever models them to actually look nice (they always just look like a gray blob of plastic stuck to the back from the in-game view), but aside from the buttstock the modelling is fine. Not 'OMG amazing', but it's better then a lot of models you see.

The skin is also fairly good, again it's not perfect but it's better then the majority. For once I can't complain about the contrast! having said that, the aforementioned buttstock is a bit lighter then the rest of the gun and looks a tad odd to me, and I think I can see some very slight texture misalignment in places, but it's not really glaringly obvious.

Animations are defaults I believe, and look fine.

The included fire sounds are okay but not great. They sound more like they should be for a normal MP5 to me - I dunno about SD/N's but on SD5's, the bullet report is barely louder then the actual inside machinics of the gun itself. Still, they're optional so I'm not gonna take any marks of for them.

Overall this is a gerat model, it's not quite to my tastes but there's nothing wrong with it at all either. If it had a nicer buttstock I'd be giving this a 10, as it is that buttstock just doesn't quite suit me so I'm knocking one off. Still, brilliant model.

I agree with you Bokuho, this is a fairly nice model. The buttstock is way to beefy, you usually don't see a full design on the MP5SD, they have the adjustable stock for easy firing. From what I hear they are extremely accurate with semi-auto, to bad we don't have that option in the game. They are quite light as well weighing at 7 lbs even with the equipped Suppressor.

If this model had the right buttstock it would be near perfect from the real thing shown here.

I go for style, not perfomance.

And I really loathe this gun.

                          But...this is a great model.
