Well, all things considered, I've decided I often tend to hate change in general, if I was basically pleased with the original, even if it's for the better. So, I have to keep that in mind whenever I consider how changes are.

Okay, so I don't really like the look of the new site. It's not that it isn't slick, or graphically "pretty" or whatever. It's certainly at least as functional as it used to be, if not more. I think I've just got a mental image of what the site "should" look like now, and all that has changed.

Well, that, and the background is a bit too bright on the left, and the text is a size too small for my liking. But hey, whether I like the new look or not really isn't going to affect how much I use the site, as it's still one of the better sites as far as map content goes. Pity I haven't seen a "CS Notebook" feature from them for quite some time -- those were rather humorous at times. :)

Navigation is far more important than design. Design is just formatting where the navigation goes relative to the content. The images are just for that extra zing.
Well said, also if you make a site with loads of flashy images it takes ages for the browser window to open, then you would say the site is to slow to view, and get fed up waiting and no longer visit the site.

There is also a bandwidth issue, more images used on the pages = a larger file size of the whole web-page = slower for you to view the page = more data being sent to your PC = more bandwidth the webmaster has to pay for = loads of $$$ on hosting fees.

On my site I stopped hosting the button images and now leech them off the sites that I am linking to, that has cut my monthly bandwidth by half.

It is not easy to find the right balance between looks+content+speed, but thats half the fun of making a site.

I would send something evil to rizzuh if he changed this design. You can't get all that much better of a design/scheme/functionality/etc. Lo es perfecto.

The only exception is Wrestin Nation. Now that was money.

              -1 for arm color

-2 for being the wrong gun: it's not a G18, there is no semi/auto selector switch. it's more of a G17 with and extended barrel for a thread on silencer.

It's clunky and big but I love it.

I really really like this, and will probably be using it for a long time. The skin makes it a fancy shmancy replacement, and it's a great option for those of you who dig the defaults.
