thousands of gamers are signing against this faking law at : http://www.netcafe.gr (i think its in greek language only) and i believe that this law is the stupiest ever made in Greek history. The Greek Parliament is a bunch of Losers Old freaking dickheads. Every installed entertaining program is forbidden, because they say its GAMBLING! We, the gamers of Greece, will NEVER STOP playing our favorite games like CS, W3 etc. AND WE WILL FIGHT AGAINST THIS FAKING RESTRICTIVE LAW THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DEMOCRACY...

This shit is serious. If this kind of thing can happen in Greece, it can happen in the US. If you think that such laws could never be passed in the US of A, think again. If you look at the trends in the media and society of the last few years, you can see a trend towards more fundamental ultra-conservatism, as well as blaming computer and video games for youth violence, crime, etc. While it is very unlikely that a total ban on video games could happen in the US in the foreseeable future, it could easily happen that games labeled as ultra-violent/evil/satanic by the media or certain ultra-conservative/religious/parental associations could be banned in the US, causing a backlash among game developers who would be afraid to put out controversial material and would merely stick to sequels and games that suck ass. Kind of like Hollywood.Comment

Secondly, laws like this just don't work. Alcohol prohibition for example just resulted in more violence. Another example, is gun control. The more restrictions there are on gun control, the more violence there will be with guns.
The main problem is that retail stores just don't id little kids when they are buying video games. If parents want to buy their kids games, then that is fine, it's no one else's business. This is why the ESRB exists, to protect the gaming community from this bullshit that happened in Greece. I have nothing against young kids playing video games as long as there parents are ok with it. And lets face it, what is the difference between a violent video game and a Marilyn Manson album?

All to often when the shit hits the fan people want to point a finger at a single source. That of course, is not the problem. What about those 2 boys in Jonesborough, Ak. They never played CS, Doom, Quake, or any other "violent" FPS, yet they still seemed to enjoy killing. They blame it on Tom and Jerry.
Columbine. Those fucktard fuckups were Doom fans... Doom 1... come on... you cant tell me you actually believe 16 pixels (give or take..) represent a human. Eithey way, they blame it on the game companies, and very very little on the parents.
In all honesty, I believe most of the anger comes from their peers. People of their own age group.... But NO! God forbid your precious son or daughter is responsible for fucking up someone ELSES life by YEARS of torment, mental and/or physical abuse, etc. It would NEVER be your kids fault. Your family is perfect in every way shape and form!
That of course would be another easy way out.
In all situations where teen violence occurs there is one thing in common: Nothing.
You cannot compare these crimes and blame them all on one thing. These days, the crimes are being commited, not by Joe Nerd, but by Joe Jock as well. And now it seems to gain national [US] and internation attention because it is happening in your middle class neighberhoods.
In review; youth violence is a caused by millions of variables, and in some cases, the same variables seem to be present. It is because of this, TV / Movies, Games, Music, and the Parents are blamed, as they seem to be the common variables.
Of course, closed minded and otherwise moronic congressmen, clergymen, kings, queens, and everyone else with some sort of power, want to take the easy way out by pointing the finger.
Most of you people here seem to have a common belief; Government censorship is bullshit.
