The first half of the Sniper's Nest updates have been posted. RenoB and Galileo worked very hard to compile every single map's best sniping positions and tactics. Well, every map besides piranesi.



Today we're posting RenoB and Galileo's sniping nests for the as_ and cs_ maps. On Friday we'll post all the defusion maps too.

sigh... this article seems to be useless for those that are l33t on these maps and less useless to those that dont even know how to pull out a gun

I've been playing for over three years and many of these spots never occured to me.



What did occur to me is that neither of you read through all the pages. I find it incredibly immature that you can click on a cs_747 link once and seemingly paint dozens of hours of work with some negative coating just to feel better about your l33t-selves.

actually its not that, its just the fact that there is no such thing as strategy in sniping when it comes to playing cstrike because it seems as if the awp is also known as the "n00b CaNnOn" aka, one shot kill and that is not an xpert's specialty... i mean i can understand strategy with scout because thats more than 1 shot but when it comes to awp, give me a break



also, tell me about Scout, does he have 2 scratch kills? =:O

These positions apply to the Scout even more than they do to the AWP. If you want to try using the G3, I'm sure smart positioning is a better way to be a good sniper than running around like an AWP fella.



I don't recall saying that these positions were AWP-specific, if I did then I was mistaken.

I didn't think they could buy any rifles aside from the AK and AWP on AS maps, rizzuh.



And as you said before, the tower is suicide, apparently. I disagree on both terms. The helipad is terrific for lining up a straight shot at targets running down a confined hall, towards you, at range, with limited lateral movement. It really doesn't get much easier, aside from unmoving targets.

I have to agree with -Dice, in my experience from watching others snipe and my own craptacular attempts, I've found the helipad a far safer T sniping point than the tower or even the rooftops (not the huge white one though, that one's almost ivan-proof ). The thing about the helipad is exactly what -Dice said, unless the CT is positive of your location, you should be able to easily get off more than one shot, sitting on either side of the helipad. As long as you're not rushed by more than 2 or 3, you should be ok, even if you're alone. But that applies to most sniping locations (although generally smaller numbers will do me in at least).



Question:

Can I contribute some of my own positions and tactics? I'm kind of disappointed to see positions, but not instructions on how to use them effectively (not to bash the work completely, it's good stuff, very handy to those unfamiliar with the maps, but my own favorite spots aren't mentioned D:).
