    TAU Roster Quits

Texas Area Untouchables is "chaning [sic] gears," with their active roster either quitting the clan, quitting CS, or quitting professional gaming. What this really means is that TAU as a competitive CS clan is dead and about half of their active members will move on to other CAL-I clans.

The fallout comes after last night's CAL-I playoff loss to Riot Squad, TAU's biggest rival.[break="more information"]TAU's leader, beavis007, posted the following message to SoGamed, announcing the departure of TAU from competitive CS.
Well I am very sad to announce, that over a year and a half of hard work, dedication, fun, and friendship is now all gone. Tonight, most of the active TAU roster has called it quits with the team and have decided to move on. It was tons of fun while it lasted, but now its all over. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us through thick and thin, and those who have too worked through these difficulties. Thank you again to CPL, CAL, Frank Nuccio, and espically Paul Drew for starting it all. Great Games
Gamers.nu has conducted a short Q&A with beavis007 (registration required). Here's my favorite tidbit:
As each change has been implemented via patches do you think counter-strike has overall evolved into a better game or do you think some of the changes have detracted from the real fun of the game?

I think Counter-Strike has become one of the lamest games around. I think that is also why you see a majority of the true old school players inactive. Once the game was sold out to a big company with $$$ in their eyes it was over from there.
Ironic that he says that. The only motivation to being in a CPL-level clan that competes in a game you don't enjoy would be $$$. It was all over from there.

rizzuh, he never said playing the game wasn't fun. He said Valve totally screwed the game over when they bought it. I mean everything that made the game what it was is gone today. It will happen to DoD too just wait.

Personally, i don't really watch/care about CPL and such...

I mean, if you see them play, yeah they kick ass...

But all this outside stuff...Roster gettin moved around, people switching clans...It's all soo...icKy...

I kno that I will prolly never be in CPL or anything else like that...

but seeing people do shit like this...makes me not wanna be in it even more.

For the players who are dedicated, and who play cuz they like it, you kick ass...

For the people who go to make money...Go get a job!

Because its obviously impossible to do both, I mean, no way anyone at the CPL might have a job.

                :) Idiot.

                  TAU D:

The mos annoying thing about them clans is they keep moving around. There's no "I like this clan so I want to stay". its more like "what better clan? YAY!"

I think it was a bit implicit.
I mean everything that made the game what it was is gone today.
Version 1.0 came out almost two years ago. CS has been in VALVe's hands (all changes are mandated by the CS team, btw) for most of CS' history.

If VALVe was the problem, people like beavis would have quit at version 1.0, when the CPL was not at all a huge deal. Now it is and many players say they only play CS because of the chance of winning money at the CPL.

The catalyst is time. VALVe is just an easy target.

Being credited with news won't make you famous.

I suggest you start murdering school children if you're looking for instant fame.

...of course you could always just submit news to share information with the community instead of seeking credit or fame because you looked on sogamed or dog.com first.
