    VAC Update Sept. 4

HLirc Warning: (rizzuh) CS-Nation is getting many reports that HLirc is being detected by VAC as a cheat. While would be fairly logical--HLirc loads in like any trainer program would and VALVe might not like any program having that much access--Disk2 has already discussed this with VALVe and they say that the anti-cheat shouldn't detect HLirc.

If you wish to uninstall HLirc you should unload the HLirc script. Do the following from within mIRC: Tools -> Remote...; View -> HLirc.mrc; File -> Unload. Please check back shortly for a status report on whether or not VAC is detecting HLirc as a cheat.

    ----

The VALVe Anti-Cheat has just been updated again. Remember it is recommended that servers be restarted after a security module update. Here is the word from VALVe:
We've updated the public security modules again. The new security modules address the following issues:

    * Detection of OGC 10.1b, Joolz, and GoldFinger.

    * Fixed secure-global bans not taking effect sometimes.

    * Fixed secure-global banned players being allowed to connect to secure servers (sometimes).
    [break="Read More"]
We're no longer using port 27013 for the ban list. You will now see traffic (in/out) on port 27011. This traffic is to/from the ban list server. Make sure you have this port open in your firewall.

Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically. If you find your servers are suddenly having problems, try restarting them.

We think we've found the problem some servers have been experiencing when we update the security modules. When the fix is ready, we'll release it as a server update. We'll send more information when it's ready. Thanks for your patience.

    Thanks.

why dont u try to block OGC 10, Joolz, and goldfinger all at the same time. While ur at it, update ur program about once a week.

                moron...

edit: also, make a revolutionary first-person shooter that will spawn mods that people play 3+ years after its release.

They're disabling wallhacks in the future. Rather than disabling each program, they're stopping the client getting relevant information needed for the wallhack to work.

That is not fair for the non-cheaters. Turning off foot sounds is going to ruin a HUGE portion of the tactical section. In the end the footstep option (and any other possible client info they might remove) should be allowed to be changed by the admin. They can't dictate our configs! FIGHT THE MONSTER!

Nobody is talking about turning off foosteps.

And remember to report any issues you have to the official counter-strike channel on GamesNET and Quakenet (#counter-strike). This is how we relay information to Valve to give you all less hassles.

Oooh, that sounded so professional. *giggles*
