Well, I didn't even attempt to get this beta. Might as well wait for a future product and as for Steam goes.. In my eyes, totally worthless, one, because of the future (EA Games idea, lets have people pay monthly to play a stupid game!, lol) pay and play deal and two, because its so annoying to log in to play. Another reason is the 'ofteness' of updates, updates rarely come out unless its a small server update which isn't a pain to get online anyway.

I'm not quite sure how this works. I was trying to connect and trying to connect and then suddenly I got this "Create Account" screen. This was somewhat startling but I signed up (took forever but whatever). Then I preloaded everything and it minimizes to the system tray.



I can't join any games and if I go into the steam options for CS and HL and TFC they all say "Updating." How do I find out if it really IS downloading and how fast? I'm kinda confused...

Well If nothing else I did like the new menu. I really liked the fact that I can copy the server IP address from the game and paste it into another Application. The menus are sweet although I think the scroll is too slow. Being able to open more then one at a time is interesting also. I read it somewhere and I do agree the background image is of poor quality especially at high res.



Another thought when can I play that chess and checkers game in the addon folder. Looking forword to that. I just hope I don't have to wait 29342873948 minutes to download it each time.

Steam was a great idea, but i personally think it is just AIM + Game support, the ability to make your computer download something you might not want (automatic updates?!?!?) and the possibility of pay-for-play in the future.

Im not sure if this is new or not but my download froze earlier when downloading from Valve Content Server 1 and now when I went to redownload Counter-Strike its connected to a Fileshack server. Maybe it is back online?

Dammit! How?! It says it's "Updating" when I go into properties under Games but I don't get a status window saying how long it's gonna take. What did I do wrong?
