Ugh, I know friends that skipped school just to play 1.6, I didn't, but I sure wasted my night waiting for this. I knew from the begging though that of course there going to delay it. im betting now that cs will be announced around February the 5th.

    This is very disappointing

It's good you didn't say that it was the fault of some of the leaked copies, as those should not have brought down servers.

I was reading at the shack while I couldn't get here and I saw a comment on how they thought it was funny how instead of bringing down the entire Internet VALVe decides to try and house all of the bandwidth on their one (albeit big) server.

I did manage to check the steampowered webpage and got a hold of a copy (from cscentral) and spent a while restarting it over and over so it would download the footprint and then eventually the game. I haven't had the patience to see if the game actually plays though...

Once in awhile I will get connected, and I will get the you have been disconnected message, but I cant even get into the new VGUI menu to start my own server. How do I do this, how can I just launch 1.6 on its on?

You know in the future, steam will cost money. This will cause 70% of future steam users to flee making that 500mb connection seem paltry.

Also; 500mb per second is damn well close to backbone size (not international size). So if valve were to get a bigger pipe, chances are they would have to spend a lot of money investing into a already established system (ie; inktomi, or cognent dist).

They are better off releasing the thing through traditional methods.

Either way, steam won't succeed because more bandwidth = more money.

Oh boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, they should have enough bandwidth on them. I mean come on, this is one of the most anticipated updates yet, and "not enough bandwidth"?

BTW, I got Steam 2.0 or CS 1.6, don't know what it is yet 'cause I haven't installed it. The reason being: My good computer is getting upgraded at my dad's house, and this comp runs at...a whopping 233 Mhz!!!!!!!! w00t!!

Yeah, I do agree they should've released it the traditional way.

Steam, IMHO is a bit "bulky"... I get the feel that it's ignoring my commands, although it's not.

Who knows, maybe they'll make it better. We still ARE getting it free.

It'll stay free for all HL and CS users, since we paid for the game.

Why don't those assholes just get rid of Steam altogether? it obviously can't handle normal traffic

I did get it working any everything... I can't connect to other peoples servers.... but I can create my own server.

and I played around with the weapons, and the new aztec..

                                it was pretty cool..

if anyone solves this little -- DISCONNECTED error let me know at G00B5@cogeco.ca -- I Would really like to play against you guys.
