If anyone ever played the old Star Trek 25th anniversary game by Interplay, there was a part of a mission on a hijacked Starfleet ship where Kirk & Co. had to get past a forcefield covering the bridge entrance containing the hijackers. They used a phaser welder at a specific part of the forcefield to get through. Perhaps a similar situation will occur in one of the CZ missions, requiring the use of the blowtorch.

Yay, not only we get a bubble gum camera and a blowtorch

      we get forcefields too!!
2.3 Will it be possible to purchase weapons and equipment during the missions?

No, the player will start out with a preset number of weapons and equipment. It will, however, be possible to pick up weapons dropped by enemies.
does that mean missions will not be rewarded with money.. and youll baisically have acces to any weapon/item anytime??

      so much for cs..

no, people are just saying that the blowtorch sucks because it would be much cooler if you can furiously hump the metal door until the hinges break.

Blowtorches are a means of getting through a locked door when no one should hear you coming. A breaching charge makes a hell of a boom and is used when you plan on having someone on the other side. That loud boom can also stun the enemy much like a flashbang. If they are close enough to the door it can possibly kill them as well.

Most breaching teams carry torches when they know they are going to encounter something along the lines of a heavy steel door that needs to be opened. A breaching charge wont open a steel door. Most likely neither will a lockpick kit.
So... exactly how long has it been since you last read Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six? :)

Ok, let's put it this way. Say a group of T's are hold up in a building, locked behind a heavy steel door and it's strong enough to withstand gunfire, he 'nades, c4, or the remote bombs. Your only natural choice is to cut through the door. Now, you sure as hell ain't gonna move very fast with a diamond bladed gas powered saw, but with a torch (torches vary in sizes, including pocket sized ones designed especially for short special ops situations) will cut through just about any guage of steel, and with adiquate protection from team mates, the guy cutting can probably do the job farely quickly. There that solves the dilema.
It's amazing how many would-be breaching experts we have here in the CSN comments! For reference, there is not a door in existance that cannot be breached with a sufficient application of C4. At least what [R]Ice said made sense (even if it did seem very... borrowed). You sir, on the other hand, don't seem to really have much more than speculation based on action movies.

Regardless, we've been through ALL of this before, and there wasn't really anything new if you've been paying the slightest amount of attention to the CS:CZ development. Those single-player elements were mentioned long ago, and a bunch of idiots back then misunderstood what the blowtorch was going to be for, just like some more idiots did this time. Think SP tools, not MP weapons.

if you can't play as the T's I'm not going to buy this POS. imagine releasing a star-wars game where you cant be an imperial or dark Jedi.

you could make a better game with POD bots and custom skins/player models.
