CS 1.6 BETA Aliases

If you want to use my aliases with CS 1.6 BETA, prepare for a damn adventure.

• load up steam. go to games and double-click on counter-strike. let the game fully download.
  
  
  
  
• once your done the game will open. just exit it.
  
  
  
  
• download rze's cs helper and install it into both your current counter-strike directory and to the steam cs directory, which is located by default at: c:\program files\steam\steamcache\counter-strike\.
  
  
  
  
• run your current cs installation (cs 1.5) and bind all the keys in the controls menu properly. click ok and exit cs.
  
  
  
  
• copy your new config.cfg (by default c:\sierra\half-life\cstrike\config.cfg\) to c:\program files\steam\steamcache\counter-strike\cstrike\ and over-write the file currently there.
  
  
  
  
• make a copy of this new config and name it keys.cfg. open keys.cfg with notepad and delete all the lines that do not start with the command "bind."
  
  
  
  
• at the bottom of keys.cfg, add a new line to bind the galil and famas alias. for example, bind "f2" "+team-cheap-rifle". when you press f2, you will buy either the galil or famas depending on your team. do this again for the +shield command for the new riot shield.
  
  
  
  
• download the updated aliases.cfg zip file. extract this file to c:\program files\steam\steamcache\counter-strike\cstrike\rze\ and over-write the aliases.cfg currently in there.
  
  
  
  
• go back to steam, click on games, and run counter-strike 1.6 beta.
  
  
  
  
• press the ~ key, above tab and next to the 1 key. type exec keys.cfg. click on the mini-start menu and select options. set up your game with all the options you like. please note that any updates you make via the controls menu will not be applied.
  
  
  
  
• click on ok to save all your options. open the console again by pressing ~ and type in exec keys.cfg once more.

If you ever lose your binds again, which may happen often, you will need to type exec keys.cfg into the console by pressing the ~ key.



You lose your binds because the controls menu deletes any binds that aren't listed in it, and it is not possible for me to update the controls menu with Steam in place. Also, 1.6 BETA does not support updated VGUI's so the commandmenu will not work either.



I realize these are complex instructions but it's the only way to guarantee that the aliases will work.

when i try to run the keys.cfg i get a message saying couldn't exec keys.cfg



im went through the directions twice, it works fine in 1.5 but not in 1.6. if someone could could help that would be greatly appreciated.

works fine for me, except I skipped the step where it told me to install it AGAIN into CS 1.5, cause I already did from before,

I got this script working perfect on 1.6...

But is it possible to get banned from stream b/c stream thinks its a hack??? Thats just what I heard... is that true??
