I had to take aztec out of our "votable" list on our server because at one point (literally) every other map would be aztec due to vote.
Aztec Conquers Dust

I think Aztec can be a pretty fun map if the right people are playing. Personally though, I feel tired of ALL of the old maps, and I think they need a refreshing start. My favorite map is actually awp_map.
Also, the only reason people hate the AWP so much, besides the fact that you can kill in 1 shot on arms, is that running and jumping don't really affect accuracy that much. I know CS isn't meant to be a realistic game, but w/ all the other guns losing accuracy u think they could stop people from doing those shitty jump shots and running out and quickly pressing the other direction before they shoot. IN REAL LIFE U PROBABLY COULDN'T EVEN JUMP HIGH WHILE HOLDING IT, IF AT ALL. Just a thought...Comment

It would be interesting to compare the serverspy stats to theclq stats... but theclq doesn't seem to be working right now. Last time I checked, that list was reversed!
Oh well, about time anyway! I was just writing an article about the making of Dust and Dust 2... now they'll need a few alterations to account for these stats. In a way it feels like the pressure is off.
Go Aztec. Not my sort of map really - I find it intimidating, but I understand why it sits alongside Dust.crankerdevil wrote..
That could easily be due to the way the two sites measure how many people are playing. Both perform server refreshes every few minutes, and because of this interpret the results differently.
serverspy isn't even accurate it claims 22,760 people are playing CS ATM when in reality when you check Gamespy's stats you'll see its more in the area of 90,000 people. http://www.gamespy.com/stats/mods.asp?id=15&s=1
ServerSpy for example might count all the players in that given sweep of servers, and return that number. But in the period between that sweep and the next, many players would have left and joined games. The total number of people stays roughly the same, but the number of individuals increases.
GameSpy probably does the latter and tries to account for this, maybe by doing several sweeps a minute to find the number of different players online and how they change between servers.
Hence, there might be 90,000 different people in a space of X minutes, but only 20,000 ever play simultaneously at any given instance in that period.
(X minutes would probably be the average time that players spend on a server. 30 minutes seems like a good figure)Comment

According to the Google cache, they were pretty much neck-and-neck just before the new year:
Seems difficult to believe, since last time i checked the CLQ stats (not so long ago - site still dead btw), Dust was way ahead. Unless the Gamespy stats are fundimentally different, i can't see how that happened.
Conspiracy.

Aztec is alright, but the two best maps in CS right now are inferno and dust2. Aztec would be fine but it's just too CT dominant. Not so much because of the actual map layout, but I find that most decent-high skilled players will go CT to pad their K/D ratios, especially on servers with a stats program. That is why I don't like aztec.Comment
