What do you think about the changes that have been made to CS since 1.3 and the changes in the upcoming 1.6?



1.3 was a great version, should have been left alone in my opinion... but they always want to change something. 1.5 is decent although no where near as fun as previous betas. 1.6 will be interesting to say the least, but I don't think it will be anywhere near as big of a change from 1.3 to 1.4/1.5.

Have to disagree about the extent of the changes between 1.5-1.6 compared with 1.3-1.4



Comparing the gameplay changes in pistol accuracy and jumpimg style in 1.4 to the 1.6's addition of 2 cheap rifles, the shield, more useful smoke grenade, updated maps, change in player model size, new GUI and other additional programs like Friends and the latest user firendly demo recorder, along with optionally using Steam would indicate that 1.6 will have much greater impact to the existing gameplay and overall operation of CS than 1.4

1.6 is essentially just making the game shine-ier. there is no way that theyre going to balance the shield, its going to be way overpowered or way underpowered, thats all. its too early to tell what impact the new guns are going to have.

everything else is just for pubbing, and ksharp is right about the awp, its a piece now

1.4 took away fast walking speed, awp silence, jumping...new weapons don't take much to adapt, along with a new GUI

This sounds regurgitated to me. 1.3 wasn't even a beta. It almost rivals NFL interviews.

He never said it was a beta. If you would have read anything else besides just the excerpt you would have seen that his favorite version was beta 4.

Yeah it appears to be perhaps a 10% reduction or so, but it equates to the 1.6 player's height nearly a full head shorter than in 1.5 and it someone messes up practiced aim. I'm also not entirely sure but it seems to make jumping up on some crates and other areas a bit harder. I'm trying to get some identical screenshots on official maps to get an exact measure.
