    CAL-i Preds Week 7:1

    Hello, and welcome to CAL-i Week 7:1. Tonight's matches are on de_aztec, which is usually really CT slanted, so may the best defense win![break="Click through to read the rest!"]I promise you we'll be going back to the awesome cs-n cal-i style coverage soon, it's just that...well...I don't have a good excuse. 3D and zEx face each other in CAL's new "Match of the Week", which will take place on Tuesday. Anyhow, here are predictions.

    New Expert Gamers -over- The Speakeasy Offensive :: 14-10

    Poor TSO. They were constantly a strong force in CAL-i, then they picked up moto and kane which made them champions...and when they lost them it's like they lost their will to win. I wish TSO would become Offensive again.

    High-Tech Performance -over- In for Blood :: 17-7

    htp's little reformation has made them only stronger, while In For Blood pulled a similar reforming but with weaker players. htp outclasses them in this match.

    Green Berets -over- utopian :: 16-8

    This is a sad, sad season for utopian, who was showing high hopes since last CPL. However, they've taken a mostly inactive route, dropping lots of games to forfeits and matches they probably should have won. Tonight is another one in the L column for the canadians.

    RiotSquad -over- Pinnacle :: 19-5

    Pinnacle is having an average season going 6-6, while [rs] is looking stronger than ever based off their nTz merger. Pinnacle doesn't hold much of a prayer for this game.

    Biodegradable Heroes -over- art of eXecution :: 14-10

    Ah, the old rivals back at it again. Little history lesson for you kids, a few seasons back the CAL-Main championship match was BiO against then-undefeated aoX. However, kaexo (currently a member of Echo 7) quit the team right before the match was to take place, and therefore couldn't field 5 players. BiO took the forfeit win and the CAL-Main championship. Tonight it's the same team names with different rosters, but aoX has been weak this season losing several starters. Therefore, I say BiO has this one.

    shockwave -over- Team c[h]ikara :: 15-9

    Poor CAL-i rookie teams just can't seem to make the wins come to them, as shock is 3-9 and [h] is a dismal 1-11. [h] just can't seem to put it together this season, but I'm confident that if they hang in there then next season they'll have plenty of success. Until then, shock has this win.

    Texas Area Untouchables -over- Excess :: 15-9

    TAU is really frustrating me with their inconsistency. Losing to Legends? TSG? Pinnacle? All strong teams in their own right, but the old TAU would never drop a game to these teams, and with roster changes this IS supposed to be the old TAU. Please stop disappointing me, TAU - I'm one of your biggest long-time supporters and I really want you to head back in a direction that'll put you back with the upper-tier teams.

    Legends -over- Eternal Silence :: 17-7

    Legends started slow back in CAL-i, but they've been picking up speed lately and are really running hot. eS is falling victim to lots of weird matches, nearly beating TAU one day then being beat by [hs]. I can't safely predict eS until they get on a better path than the one they're on right now.

    Echo 7 -over- Hicks With Sticks :: 18-6

    These teams have met in the past and e7 basically steamrolled right over them. I don't expect the result to be much different.

    TEAM STOMPING GROUNDS -over- Domain of Pain :: 16-8

    The current DoP is just a mockery to the name. I don't understand it; sure, they might not be dropping too many games, but it seems like all past CAL-i champions are falling. X3? Dead (Well, living under the name 3D, but let's not get technical). DoP? Dropping games left and right. TSO? Lord knows. Rival? Bad streak for quite awhile but seem to be turning it around now. DoP, please prove me wrong tonight. Until then, I'm saying TSG has tonights win in what would have been a major upset last season, but is just expected now.

    WeekEnd Warriors -over- Ascension :: 13-11

    WEW can knock out giants like 3D, but they can't seem to beat [GX] which amazes me. I'm just glad WEW has returned to being a powerhouse in the last couple seasons; for awhile they were dropping lots of dumb games that just didn't make sense, and now they're a serious name to contend with again. |a*| might have picked up Funk, but I don't think it's going to help them out much in this match that relies heavily on AWPs which WEW is famous for. Sorry guys, but the only thing Ascending is the number in your losses column.

    Gamers-X -over- nerve :: 19-5

    This is a sad display for the #2 WCG team nerve. I only wish I could predict a strange upset, but they obviously don't take online seriously, and GX is just steamrolling over the competition. Sorry nerve; I'll be surprised if you get more than 5 rounds.

    Team Rival -over- frag university :: 17-7

    Here's a team that I'm proud to say is turning things around, especially with their most recent overtime win against WEW. fu is nothing but a lower-tier CAL-i team; they don't stand much of a chance.

    TEC -over- Team gLink :: 15-9

    gLink is in a sense a new team, as Team iLan lost their iLan sponsorship so it made sense to change their name. Hence, they've become gLink, and while they have a few new players, they just don't have the chemistry down yet to beat a tried-and-true TEC team.

    HLTV ip's are good. I'm tired of always seeing someone ask how to watch HLTV in the comments, so I'll explain right now. Take the IP. Paste it in your favorite game browser (GameSpy, All Seeing Eye, or even Half-Life's Game Browser). Then simply connect. If you get something from All Seeing Eye telling you the server is full, just force connect and it'll redirect you to a server with open slots. Enjoy!

            IDEA!:

            For the best predictions around, do 'Gun Running'-esque predictions. GotFrag has half the idea, having two (or more) opinions in their predictions, but the two predictors don't comment on each other's words in a comical and fresh way. If you get Sublyme and aeekos (sp?) to predict and criticize...wow it would be great.

                      Nicely done Sublyme, as always. I have nothing more to contribute at this ungodly hour of the night/morning. :)

                            Wow, sublyme your my hero. TSG beat DoP 16 - 8. Either your Miss Cleo's long lost circus performing half-midget brother or you knew something ahead of time.

                              425u6493253421686589, first off I'm going to have to say that names like that aren't particularly good at bringing sympathy for your newbishness. It's fine to be new and have questions, but for the love of all things holy, change your name to something that doesn't make us want to rip our eyes out of their sockets!

                              Anyway, cal-i stands for "Cyberathlete Amateur League - invite" which is essentially the highest level of online play in North America, as teams are hand picked from the top online clans in CAL-M (CAL-Main). There's also CAL-O for open play and such. I'm also very tired and not the best person to ask about esports in general, but yeah. :)
