Since this afternoon (1 PM PST) WON and Steam authentication servers have both been down. Until they go back up, you will be unable to play Counter-Strike or other Half-Life games. Please just wait it out as usual. Note, some people have reported problems of CS freezing while trying to use the in-game browser; this is normal when WON is down. We will post any updates when we hear them.
Update: It's not back up. It's up and down, so let's just be patient!
Another update: Although this problem can be fixed by some files found in our comments section, we will not link to them here since once VALVe makes another change then you'll run into problems. So remember to create a backup if you use the fix.
