Another Steam Update

Why does this always happen? They release an update. Next few days they have another update to fix the last update.



Why don't they have BETA tester for there update? They can maybe just test it themself...

- Get more then a GED

- Get Job.

- Buy High Speed.

- Download stuff faster then 56k.



If you tried to skip any one of those steps, then you will not ever get High Speed (Note the GED and JOB.)

Strange, I now have "Counter-Strike: Source" in my Filter list when I don't even have CS:S yet. And attempting to join any of the CS:S games doesn't do anything.

I think that was the point of steam, they could release updates and see how the update did as far as the community feels. If there was a bug, they could fix it up in a day or 2. So there isn't a point to beta testing steam updates.

honestly though, i have dsl so i dont care about the downloads, but every patch they make, it seems to have 5 or 6 more problems then before.

The fix is good. Figuring many servers sat empty yesterday, even at high traffic times because the problems the previous update caused.

I am really proud of them for getting these updates out faster then usual. :)

Uhh, so, the point of steam is so they can release updates quickly, but that doesn't negate the need for testing.



Remember when they released updates that made DX unusable for HL1 users?



And the latest update breaking custom content, etc.



I am not trying to dog valve; i think they do a good job. But i am not convinced they have figured out how much testing they ought to do prior to releasing something over steam. Bugs happen, but their quality gate for releasing something seems a bit low.



I am also a bit concerned that they are releasing updates to the beta after sending the RC. To me, this means the beta and the RC were in sync when it was sent, despite the fact that there are still some SERIOUS bugs in the beta.
