    CAL-i Update

CAL-i's West super-match of Ascension vs WeekEnd Warriors resulted in a surprise, as a* defeated WEW 14 rounds to 10 on de_aztec, with a flawless 12-0 take down as the CT side. This proves that a*'s recent change-ups have formed a powerful clan. The big challenge is seeing if it will last, both in terms of victories and roster stability. You can grab last night's HLTV demo at GotFrag.

In other CAL-i news, gLink has been demoted to CAL-Open for using a ringer, or someone not part of their clan, during a match. I, for one, think the punishment is justified, but it seems I'm in the minority. Most players seem to think that the demotion is a bit too extreme.

Finally, for those planning early, here are tomorrow's HLTV IP's:[break="HLTV IP's"]8:30 PM CST

    zEx vs. rs - hltv.gamedaemons.net:27020

    Pinnacle vs. 3D - hltv.gamedaemons.net:27021

    Echo7 vs. TAU - hltv.gamedaemons.net:27022

    9:30 PM CST

    Ascension vs. GX - hltv.gamedaemons.net:27023

    W.E.W vs. HTP - hltv.gamedaemons.net:27024

    Rough.

Although I find the punishment odd. Usually they just suspend or forfeit the team from a few games... Oh well...

      1. All players on the gLink roster and Titus are suspended until the start of the regular season for Season 8(April).
That seems to me to be a justified punishment, when a Team is at the apex of the sport the fall should be hard. But shipping them off to cal-o? I fail to see what cal is tring to do... If gLink stays together we can probably hand them the title right now. This part of the punishment seems equally rough on all the cal-o clans that gLink might play. Talk about skill level difference. Hmm now I want to watch one of these "cal-o" matches. I hope they have HLTV!

Perhaps they want to be strict enough that teams will stop trying this, eh? I see it as legit, though, because it's clearly against the rules, and breaking the rules that intentionally shouldn't get you a mere slap on the wrist. I don't think we'll be seeing high level teams trying this again for quite some time, so long as gLink is fresh in their mind.

I mean... if it were a LAN, it would be blatant cheating, and you couldn't hide it. Why should online be any different? My thought, anyway.

GJ to Ascension, WEW is a tough team. It's a pity that most teams do so poorly on the T side of Aztec, though I suppose it's quite understandable. I'll be interested in seeing what effect, if any, CS1.6's version of Aztec has on this.

oh.. putting them back to cal-o is just plain stupid.. i mean think of the new teams out there that will have to face a cal-i level clan.. its really not fair for the rest of the cal-o clans..

            Got any better ideas?

you have to punish them... and You have to enforce rules with real consequences...

Please tell me, how late are these times in London time.

I really want too watch these wars, but i don't have any idea how late they take place.

Is CST 7 hours or more difference too the London time.

                  Thx.

                    Trancient, here you go:

Extract the .dem files into your cstrike directory.

                    From the console...

                    viewdemo blah.dem

As far as timezones go, damn, go to school kids. PST is GMT-0800, EST is GMT-0500, and CST is GMT-0600. London time is GMT. So, let's practice our math. Subtract 0600 from London 11am time (for example) and you get 3am CST. Going the opposite way, just add that many hours. Now do the math yourself with the real times listed.

I'd think you'd know your timeszones in england considering you guys are GMT 0, anyways, CST is GMT -6 hours. So whatever time it is in London, subtract 6 hours and thats what it is in CST, or vice versa. If the matches start at 7PM, in london it is (7+6=?) 13:00, or 1:00AM.

I dunno, as far as justification is concerned, I think it's a good idea to have a harsh punishment. I mean, in the day and age where professional computer gaming leagues are coming abreast (huh, huh, I said breast), there needs to be rules in place and needs to be punishment for not following those rules. Just because CAL doesn't offer some huge cash prize for winning, doesn't mean that it isn't to be taken seriously by all gamers. An offense against an organization that is out there for fair and professional gaming between teams should be dealt with swiftly and painfully to ensure that there won't be the same kind of problems for future gamers.

Am I the only one that thinks that demoting gLink to Open a stupid idea? I mean, you're trying to teach them a lesson, so you demote them to O? They'll just completely destroy the competition in Open and get promoted back to Main/Invite by the end of next season. As alex said, it's not really fair (whines).

It's the same still. The crack is taken out but that only changes pub play by making it a little more CT sided in pubs. In matches it's all the same since T's can't cross bridge(2 colters can guard bridge with no problem) and two(or 3 if you don't want a colter near door) awpers can just hold down the rest. It's suicide coming out the doors with against a good awper. It is possible to get some rounds but it's just not easy.
