    VAC Updates Again

Hi ho all you lads and lasses! This is DrMagus reporting in with even more VAC goodness. Seems a new module is in town and ready to do some serious damage to cheaters. These modules have even stiffer ban penalties and detect even more OpenGL cheats. Your server should update automatically, so check out Eric Smith's e-mail below![break="eric smith's e-mail"]
*** This only affects Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers. ***

We've updated the public security modules again. These security modules detect more OpenGL cheats with increasingly greater ban penalties for repeated detections.

Your Counter-Strike and Day of Defeat servers should update themselves automatically. Let me know if you have any problems with these security modules and we'll look into them right away.

    Thanks.

            That's a lot of security updates, :)

It'd be a lot simpler if they didn't tell ANYBODY that they updated the cheats, so the VAC actually bans the cheaters, instead of having the cheater read the message, turn off their cheat, and play... :P

            Oh well. I don't run a server, so I really don't care, :P

It's better that he stopped telling people what cheats it blocked and detected.

Even if Valve didn't say server admins would very easily be able to tell as they can check logs and look at the files for vac and see when they updated.

But GG! Valve gj keeping on top of the lamers out there. Ever thought about a lawsuit claiming damages from people writing haxs? I mean you do lose money from sales when people hear about cheating

I know what you're saying, but then the guys working on VAC would get ZERO credit for their hard work to stop kiddies from ruining a good game. But I do understand your logic though.

At this point, some people have to test each cheat against VAC to see if it works or not. Some people will get banned in the meantime. Additionally, as the listings of working cheats shrink, VALVe has their "hit list" made up for them. :)

Either way would work, but the guys at VALVe certainly wouldn't get the credit they deserve if they weren't mentioning their work. That's a good side effect, and I don't really see how it damages their effectiveness, so I say good work.
