The biggest sponsorship deal for any Counter-Strike clan this side of the Atlantic was revealed earlier today on Tech TV's The Screen Savers. CompUSA along with NVIDIA will sponsor all-star Team 3D, who won the CPL World Championship event last December. Wearing a red, black and white Team 3D jersey with the two company's logos, a CompUSA spokesman predicted that Team 3D would be the future of esports before making the two hosts of the show honorary members. I wish I was an honorary member.
NVIDIA and CompUSA, who both sponsor the Cyberathlete Professional League itself (and CompUSA also sponsors the CPL's competition, so I guess they're covering all the bases), aren't known for weak sponsorship deals. This sponsorship, likely the best for any CS clan in the world, will obviously allow Team 3D to travel abroad and hopefully compete professionally more often than just twice a year.
Team 3D will face Ascension this Sunday in the CAL-invite playoffs, after CAL admins rescheduled the match due to 3D's scheduled appearance on The Screen Savers. The match's rescheduling has brought some controversy, including the allegation from Ascension's DragonClaw that their input wasn't requested and that CAL admins 'broke their own rules.'
