Chris at The VERC Collective reported that VALVe will release a 64-bit version of the Counter-Strike dedicated server that utilizes the upcoming AMD Opteron processor. According to the press release, the new dedicated server will be a straight port of the existing 32-bit code and has been tested to show a 30% clock-for-clock performance gain, with even more performance gains in future upgrades. Well, I guess if they moved it off the HL engine, they wouldn't be able to release it as a mod anymore...which probably means that they'd have to release it as a new game...which probably means they'll make some new animations and character models and design some new levels...then they'll have to think of a catchy name, like Condition Zero.

Nah, it's Quake 1 modifyed... I don't think they touched Quake 2.
