Okay. Narby is a fantastic mapper, most of his maps play well, so the general concensus is that his new map will be better than the previous ones. Thus, everyone is very excited to see it, now seeing as there is just one person whinging, it would appear than the majority /want/ to see it on a daily basis!

The paranoia was great. The only problem i found with Vertigo was that it's a vertical map with about .5 ways for quick vertical movement, which completely screwed up that paranoia. Defusing on that map was a total crapshoot.
what I really didn't like about vertigo is the two level paranoia thing that happens (is he on this level or under/on top) and the fact that CTs can go down by that ladder.Comment

I don't see why anyone needs to complain about seeing news that they don't care about. It's quite obvious that, for whatever reason, quite a few people like seeing updates to narby's maps. If someone else doesn't, then don't click the damn link.
I personally like Vertigo equally well on either side, which isn't usually the case. Good map, relatively simple, but hugely different rounds depending on how the players choose to distribute themselves.Grimbal wrote..
I think I have a map called cs_bankjob sitting in my CS directory. Haven't played it for nearly two years, though. Medium quality at best, honestly, but oh well. Every once in a while I wish we could be playing CS while looking at Max-Payne graphics, but we'll ignore that for now, and work with what we've got.
any chance of a cs macdonalds map? maybe a bank map? cs_raid or something....
Anyway, DaveJ and narby suck at making maps. That's why none of the official maps were made by them. Damn brits...Comment

Oi Less of the damn brits! I thoguht Dave J was the only brit, Is Barney too? OOo, And surely as mappers their opinions on the maps and how they are played should eb important? And therefore I ask a simple question of mappers, DOes the awp factor in map design?
Three good t awpers g, can pwn Aztec, and irritating t side of the tunnel awpers can protect on dust,. Did you folks make the maps with this in mind? If so, a curse upon you, grrrr!
I hear there's an anti camp server plugin, which slaps about poepl who stay in the same spot when player numbers drop to 2v2 or 1v1, is this true? if so where can i find it?
I think it also announces when they have an awp... PLs enlighten me

Yes, and we all know we don't have any FPS to spare, and daily lament the terrible FPS Half-Life should be giving us currently, what with its ultra-modern technology and extreme poly-counts...
I'm pretty sure CS:CZ has it, as well as it being built into the Valve engine extension code (Spirit of Half-life) but neither are currently built in as standard to the Half-Life/CS code. Either way it will make you lose a bit of fps.

When I thought of a bank map, I couldn't help but think of Max Payne, and some of the buildings in it. The 3DMark2001 Game 3 is using essentially the same engine, and on the high-quality (reflections and deformations and such) setting, it has just the right feel for what, imho, a bank map should look like. Sure, there's more modern engines out there than Max Payne, but part of the appeal of CS is that basically anybody can run it, even on a crap computer. I see that 2001 tech as a nice step up from the HL engine without alienating a huge part of the CS community. Honestly, I think that game looked pretty dang nice when you raised the detail levels.
