I watched it on MTV when it premiered. I have this to say, in Nighthawk fashion:



The Order of Light, the guys from Memphis... yikes. While I'm sure they're all great guys and whatnot, they seem like total crack fiends and their apartment is a crack den. I mean, if you know you're gonna be on friggin' MTV, is it really that hard to clean the place up a bit? (Something just occurred to me: maybe they did clean up the place for MTV. Now there's a scary thought.) Not exactly the way I would prefer gaming to be shown on national TV, but oh well.



The Golden Tee guy seemed like a total knob. He spends the first segments of his story talking about what a GT champ he is, and then proceeds to utterly fail. I guess what really pissed me off as someone who used to bartend was that he spent like 2 hours after the bar closed just sitting there playing out his tournament while the bartender was politely pretending to have stuff to do in the background. I would have kicked him out on his ass, that ain't cool.



The PacMan guy seemed to have some talent, but like his choice of video games, he himself seemed to be frozen in the '80's. And you just gotta question the sanity of a man who visits his local market just to rearrange the sauce shelves and put his sauce in front of the competition's. And what's the deal with "I'm not gonna tell you what my next awe-inspiring world-shocking feat of computer game-itry will be"? Ok, so he didn't exactly say it in those words, but is he planning a marathon session of Joust? Or finishing a game of Dig-Dug without losing a man? Beating Q-Bert playing only with his big toe? Will anyone care?



The Fatal1ty bit was, to me, the centerpiece and the coolest part. He's one of the few real deals around, a guy who can actually back up the talk with great play. Maybe I just identify with the PC gaming thing more than the other stuff and think it's cool that he can make decent money just playing video games all day.



Basically, I did enjoy the show, even the parts that felt slightly icky. I enjoy gaming, but I don't think it necessarily has the cachet and mass appeal to pull in much of an audience beyond the people who already do it.

The link from the UK is coccupted i think.

Tried it twice with an without dap, and on both tries and error while unzipping it.

And the US link is too slow for me, so now what ?????

I also used the (Blueyonder) UK link, so that might be the problem. I'll try to download from PlanetQuake3 later.

Ok, guys the UK ftp servers file of the show is obviously corrupted but when I downloaded it once again from the US servers (after waiting 5 minutes due to the query's..etc) the file wasn't corrupt.

So everyone go on and download it from the US server, may take a while for your query to get accepted but at least the file is not corrupt... Movie is good but the golf dude is pretty gay..i agree with what torched said and the pac man guy as you will see still thinks we in the dark ages...

He made it sound like the second frikkin coming or something, I was envisioning him playing the whole game with his eyes closed, or maybe going inside the machine and becoming a being of pure light with Pacman. Apparently not however:

I watched this little video today and was left with the feeling that super-intense gaming to the exclusion of masturbation and finger painting, although personally very fun, leaves people with rather unappealing lifestyles. This is confirmed from my life experiences. I'm probably just biased though...
