Xbox Live's Future

An article on CNNMoney's Game Over section talks about the future of Xbox Live, which, in case you didn't know, Counter-Strike will be a big part of.

While "Halo 2" won't be released this year, Microsoft does have a few potential big titles in its online arsenal. "Project Gotham 2", the sequel to the million-plus selling launch title, will feature a multiplayer mode. And "Counter-Strike", which has been an enormous multiplayer hit in the PC world, is slated to make its Xbox debut this fall.



Both games should do well, but neither is expected to be a system driver, say analysts.



"Counter-Strike's good," said Mike Wallace of UBS Warburg, "but it's not Halo."

In addition to the online version of CS obviously being a big sale for Xbox Live, those standard non-live Xboxers will have a vast single player campaign at their fingertips since the version of CS shipped to the Xbox will be that crazy Condition Zero. Think about cs for xbox.... close your eyes and imagine (well i guess you cant if i want you to read this... whatever) aiming with your thumb on a mini joystick instead of a mouse, and think about all the different keys you use: drop gun, 3 radio msgs 5 slots, mm1 and mm2, wasd for movement, primary and secondary fire, jump, duck, walk, etc.... have fun fitting that all onto an xbox controller. ill stick with my cpu which can do anything from listen to music, to play games, to create websites and go to websites, to program, to do my homework. no consoles for me, i fail to see the point of them. i have a ps1 and never use it, anyone want it?

you can do all that on just a CPU??? There goes the market for Video Carrds, Monitors, Keyboards, Sound Cards, Mice... All you need is a good ol' Athlon

I did is so that I didn't have to type out the word computer and could just hit three keys you smartass, you knew exactly what I meant. ROFL...XBox doesnt even deserve CS..Most ppl have computers and are able to play cs cos of its low specs, but ppl arent going to buy an xbox to play cs...especially when there is such pathetic net access for it in other countries..I think theres like 300 ppl on the xbox online tunnell..compare that to the 60k ppl constant on cs.
