VAC Security Modules Updated

Update by rizzuh @ 6:40 PDT: The VAC module has been rolled back. "We've rolled these modules back, for now. We're going to try and fix the problems that people using WineX have been having." WineX is a Linux program that allows those geeks to use Windows programs like Half-Life.



Insert witty joke here. VALVe's Eric Smith has announced on the HLDS mailing list that the VALVe Anti Cheat modules have been updated once again. According to Eric, these new security modules have "some technical improvements and optimizations". Insert attempt to poke fun at game companies or random nonsensical exclamation here.

i dont know if it has to do w/ the update, but starting last night every time i join a server it says you have been disconnected

um, maybe it's because i haven't seen it update yet, even though i restarted steam many times. God DAMNIT. and no, i dont hack, but even so wouldn't that say you are banned if it is a messup? it just disconnects me for no reason even the console says nothing. FIX ITTTTTTTTTT!!

i think a vac update has screwed up some cs maps for me. sometimes after a spawn, every player apart from me, spawn about 10m above me....and start to walk around like that. but in order to kill them, u need to shoot the area below them, so in effect i can see players over walls and shoot below them thru a wall and hit them.

Is anyone seeing their wonid banned on secure servers?

I have access to 4 cdkeys, from sharing only with friends.

Around March 11th, 2 of the keys were banned for a week for past cheating violations, then 2 weeks ago another had the same problem.

and today my brother tells me that his key has been banned until may 8th, almost a whole month. We don't cheat!!! and talking with our friends and warning them not to cheat, they've told us they don't cheat and I believe them. How does valve come up with these bans?

The bans say it's cause of past cheating violations, what do they mean by that? Like cheating last week, or cheating a year ago? Can we contact valve and ask them about the ban?
