Interview With WC3 Plugin Creator SpaceDude

The Warcraft 3 plugin for AMX Mod is one of the hottest things out there in the CS world. So hot, in fact, that now WC3 creator SpaceDude has been interviewed by the Polish gaming press! Hot, indeed. LorDark from Counter-Strike.pl conducted the brief but informative interview which you can find in English here or in Polish here.

LorDark: When did you first come up with an idea of combining Warcraft and Counter-Strike elements?



SpaceDude: Well after losing interest in Counter-Strike a few of my ex-clan mates introduced me to Warcraft 3 at a lan. I didn't like it at first but they wouldn't stop talking about it so i decided to give it a go. So that kept me happy for a few months. Then one day i was surfing the net and found the AMX site, and since i have been learning c++ at university i wanted to see what it takes to write a plugin. And i was amazed at how easy it was. So basically thats how it started, combination of Counter-Strike, Warcraft3 and AMX.

Yes, this mod encourages extreme nerd-ery. Normal CS causes severe cool-ery. It is a known fact that chicks won't date guys who play CS with the wc3 mod.



This mod is a needed breath of life to a game that some of us have played for three years. It's a nice alternative to have if you want to do some crazy crap.

Agreed, its not like I actively go looking for WC3 servers (although I do enjoy playing on them), but there are just some times when I'd like a normal game of CS.

I never played this mod, but I have heard of it. That's mostly because my regular servers don't have this, not that Im on ur anus.

I think it is a nice change of pace and encourage people to keep coming up with mods like this. However, I dont play it if I can help it b/c I like people to die when I shoot them. I'm not a fan of tons of people having 140 hp, if I wanted this kind of gameplay I would go back to UT.

i like this mod but as street sed there shud b a way of seeing that its running while connecting, it kinda gets annoying joining a funserv if u want a reg game, and a reg serv if u want a fun game

Words cannot express my distaste for the WC3 mod.



However, just like fy_iceworld, I'm fine with those who like it playing it, and am not one of those "don't ruin CS!" type of idiots who doesn't realize there's always 5000 more servers for me to choose from.



I think we all agree that having a [WC3] tag in the server name would be nice, though, just like the [FF=ON] or [noAWP] and such tags are quite helpful in selecting servers.

You have to join the server just as it changes maps or you're fux0red. I don't really like this mod too much though.

Nothing like the good getting better, and the weak getting owned more.

then again i'm always on the good part of that equation.



edit: vamperic aura is the best, it allows me to fight off an ak47 with elites, do damage get health.
