what's a demo anyway? is it one of those sample games when u get to play a bit but when u get to the exciting part they start bitching at j00 until u crap you pants?

it seems demos work better with playdemo than viewdemo. If you're having problems, go with playdemo

I love geekplay. The only problem with it is it doesn't want to play demos I recorded from beta 5.2. Whats up with that?

You realize the game has changed a lot from then and the format of how the game works will be so radically different that it will most likely wig out and have an HL error on you before you get the demo played? Just reinstall a new halflife + cstrike and update Hl and cstrike to the versions they were at when 5.2 was around and try playing it like that

Right now I have these versions of CS on my comp: 1.5 retail, 1.5 mod, 1.6 beta, 6.1 beta, 5.2 beta and 3.0 beta. They all work. Yes I know all about how the netcode changed and all that. Even when I put the path to play from the old version of HL (1.0.1.6) it gives me an error. Its not to hard to go into my old version of CS and type "playdemo name" but it would be cool if geekplay could play them. . .

last time i used geekplayer, its 'nifty' ability to play old demos screwed up my HL so bad, that i had to reinstall cos i couldnt find all the libraries and executables geekplayer had replced, pfft
