I can't even begin to tell you how happy I was to come on to your site like I do everyday and find that not only did I have a mailbag to submit comments on but I also got to read this cool discussion of yours. You both made some good points and it was nice to see you guys team up on someone else instead of just even belittling each other. Even though that can be really funny.

I read this website everyday and I cried the day I came on and saw "Wrestlin Nation" or whatever that was. I ran away in fear. Wrestling is bad. Very bad. Evil. And I am the only one of my friends who does not like it. Needless to say, quite often I find myself having to get up and leave their houses at random, often in the middle of conversation due to the fact that they have changed the channel to WWE.

See kids? This is what vanilla coke does to you. It makes you a sniviling coward. Regular coke makes you spell bad. Vitamin Water makes you a god!

I don't know if we were teaming up against Fragmaster...we both like Kevin's work, and think he's a good guy. We definitely both felt that this article of his was a bit misguided, though.

I like how Vaishino pimped his clan in the middle of his response.
Actually, the X's were supposed to look generic. I'm not even in a clan.

Wow, way to completely stray off the topic! I have something to say - if in public servers, people actually worked together, and admins didn't slap you because you're camping at the bombsite as CT and everyone didn't say "omfg camper" because you're CT, the T dropped the bomb, and you're watching it, public servers would be just as fun. But apparently, everyone in a pub likes to turn it into a quake match and just go "omfg this is just a pub nub kthx im in CAL stfu". That's when CS starts becoming dumb, and you're basically FORCED to scrim. That's why clans are becoming so popular.

Couldnt agree with rizzuh anymore, he is completely correct on this and is truely the right one because he has seen both sides while someone like asspennies is too uber noober

But seriously, I dont play any public servers at all, only match/scrim/practices and its truely the only way to play. Everyone who tries out scrims often with a good team knows that its truely the way CS is meant to be played. Even when i do occassionaly play some pubs the randomness and unorganization of it is just plain stupid. My argument is, until you try it asspennis, dont argue against it. Join rizzuhs clan or something kthx. See you in CAL-im .php be fun scrimming u if u'd like to play a higher tier competition clan =)

Sheesh, it sure is sad that you guys feel so threatened by Vanilla Coke's overwhelming ownage and 1337ness. The only beverage more 1337 than Vanilla Coke is, of course, Cherry Coke. Everything else is just plain l4m3 o_O

I've been playing CS for a while now, and I still enjoy it when I can, but when you have five hours of homework every night and parents breathing down your neck, it is hard to play period. Thus it is even harder to play competitively. I have some friends in my area who play CS, and every once in a while we have a mini-LAN party. I think that is one of the funnest ways to play CS because you can always get up and do other things whenever you want to and there is no pressure whatsoever. I tried to play in a league clan once, but (not bragging) I was better than the whole team, and they always disregarded me. If you can find the time and the right people, clans are great, but for me, I just prefer to play with my friends and on public servers.

I personally have enjoyed competitive gameplay. But not for prizes, not for winning, not for fame, just for FUN. Some people take it way too far. The leaders of my last clan were among those, and I left. The clan ended up disbanding right after I left - it was reformed though. Now they have one goal and that is winning. They even state so on their website. My question is, why? Why do you HAVE to win? Will it make you a better person? Look good on your resume perhaps? Its senseless IMO.
Well wanting to win i guess would be better than wanting to lose. I don't think anyone would give any kind of respect to clan that advertises its want and need to be the losers.

I think the point was that having fun at the game was more important than winning it, rsg_6100. Winning is great and all, but if you must win at all costs, the fun factor of the game simply isn't as high for most people. Fun is why most people play, so it's a valid point.

One other thing. The argument "you can't argue against something until you've tried it" is utterly stupid in every way. Do you have to work in fast food before you can say it's not the work you want to do? Do you have to have an abortion before you can say you're against it? Taking the thought to the extreme, do you have to commit genocide before you can say it's a bad thing to do?

You can argue against many things on objective merit, even without having experienced them. Sure, you may have a better understanding of those things if you experience them, but based off of what you already know, you can often make a decently informed decision.

You misunderstand. Winning is their ONLY goal. Here, I'll quote it exact from their site:
Winning is the ultimate object of playing any game.
I was under the impression games were originally made for the fun and entertainment value. So I disagree with them. Having fun is the ultimate object of playing any game. If you don't think so, then I would say you are a bit obsessed. Sure its great that these CPL(as well as other organizations) guys are making money playing games, but for those of us not playing for money, why can't we just play the games for fun? People tend to play games to get away from the ugliness of the real world, for a little while, and when people, perhaps like you, take it so damn serious then it can ruin the fun of those just playing for fun.

Even worse, to call it a sport, to me, is a joke. Football is a sport, gaming is a hobby / getaway / entertainment source.
