    counter-point

CS-Nation is proud to introduce our new weekly feature: Counter-Point. In Counter-Point, asspennies and rizzuh (that's me!) talk about some sort of crazy thing happening in the Counter-Strike world. This week's topic is Kevin Bowen's article on why professional gaming sucks. Here's a part of asspennies' take:
Having no "mainstream appeal" isn't exactly the deathblow Bowen makes it out to be. Soccer continues to have no mainstream appeal throughout the United States, despite being popular throughout the rest of the world. Does that mean that Soccer sucks, or isn't a sport? I am sure there will be some who agree with the former, few with the latter. As for whether Gamers have interesting personalities, or are too serious, I don't think it much matters. There has been a constant mistake, in my view, of trying to highlight individual gamers and not the game itself. The point is the competition, not the players. The highlighting of the individual members of the team comes after pro gaming has reached some level of saturation, not before.
Check out the rest of Counter-Point here and be sure to keep the discussion going by sharing your thoughts in the comments section.

Yea I definitely am going to agree with competitive league play is a core part of counter-strike and you haven't really played counter-strike untill you have been in a 5v5 league match down 9 points and come back for the 13-11 win next half. The tactics and team play in competitive play are critical and every decision is capable of turning the tide of the match. And if you win your clan goes up a notch on the ol ladder/league standings.

Public play too me is just aim practice for league matches. You can't experience close call strategic rounds in a server with 20 people running around like idiots while listening to linkin park with HLAmp.

I'm not really going to respond to Fragmaster's top10 deal because I already did in a previous comment page and to me he really doesn't make any valid points that haven't been covered to death by the anti-esport trolls five million times.

Good idea with the new article, it almost brings back the crossfire feel :) Keep it up...

The fact that asspennies enjoys watching baseball says enough, to me. I can play baseball and enjoy it, but to me it is just as bad, if not worse to watch than golf.

Hey, whatever. I'm not the ultimate arbiter of taste, but neither are you.

A lot of people find baseball boring. A lot of people don't. I don't. I guess that to you, this invalidates all my opinions. It may be hard to believe, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

For those who keep track of these things, when I did the mailbag two weeks ago, I was "the zany asspennies," now rizzuh is zany and I'm mild-mannered? I guess things change fast in cs-nation time.

I'm not a fan of clan play anymore myself. I just quit my clan cause I don't really have the tiem for it anymore.

Anyway, cool features. It's ultra sexay!!!1
